Dartmouth Health Medical Laboratory Scientist IV - Cellular Therapy Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire

For this position, we are seeking candidates with the following:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in an academic or lab setting.

  • Flexibility – the position requires working after hours for cryopreservation and occasional late infusions. Weekend and holiday paid on-call are required on a rotation basis.

TheMedical Laboratory Scientist IV (Clinical Laboratory Scientist IV)independently performs a variety of diagnostic laboratory tests in the Clinical Laboratory to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. They use their knowledge and skill set to assist with oversight of laboratory functions, including quality control, maintenance, training and other required tasks. They perform venipunctures and capillary draws on Inpatients, Emergency Room patients, and Outpatients as needed.

We offering a $8000 sign-on/retention bonus for this position. *The bonus is available for external hires only and certain conditions apply.

This is a full-time, 40-hour/week benefited, day-shift position working Monday - Friday, 8am-4:30pm with call rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the cryopreservation and infusion of hematopoietic stem cells for Autologous and Allogeneic transplants, as well as, infusion of chimeric antigen receptor cells for Autologous patients.

  • Assists with new methodologies, reagents, and instrumentation. Designs and performs validations. Participates in troubleshooting, equipment quality control maintenance and training needs

  • Participates in performing stability and research studies and analyzing data.

  • Actively participates in writing and manual review, revision, and implementation of SOP’s for the section.

  • Assists with administrative duties such as data entry, filing and inventory control of reagents and supplies.

  • Recommends changes to management of product or supplies that improve sectional process based performance or cost/budget ratio.

  • Identifies problems and makes suggestions to resolve issues.

  • Works closely with the following DH departments: Transplant and Cellular Therapy and Inpatient Transplant Unit, Pathology sections such as Blood Donor Program, Blood Bank, Hematology as well as, Biomedical Companies as needed.

  • Completes data entry for the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR) and for the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP).

  • Participates in Inspections and or audits performed by AABB, FACT, CAP, FDA and NMDP.

  • Completes annual proficiency testing and DH e-learning models.

  • Prepares on call schedules and ensures the department is adequately staffed for required procedures.

  • Prepares weekly meeting agenda and minutes.

  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently and adhere to deadlines and manage changing volumes. Basic knowledge of computer software systems.

  • 3-5 years of experience required

  • AS degree and minimum of 5 years of Clinical Laboratory experience or Bachelors of Science Degree and minimum of 3 years of Clinical Laboratory experience.

Required Licensure/Certifications

  • Nationally recognized certification required within 1 year of date of hire

  • ASCP preferred

  • Current BLS certification required within 30 days of hire for those CLS employees located at Community Group Practice laboratory locations

  • Area of Interest:Allied Health;
