Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Clinics is home to the largest laboratory in NH, providing Pathology and Clinical Laboratory services to DHMC and Clinics physician practices, Dartmouth Health member hospital, and independent practices and hospitals throughout NH and VT. Our Laboratory Assistants receive laboratory specimens from inpatient units, outpatient clinics, and outside institutions. Candidates for this position must have obtained their HS Diploma or GED, with some college coursework and previous laboratory experience preferred. We are looking for candidates with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment. Our laboratory team is a high-functioning, dedicated team of professionals who work hard to the highest possible standard.
This area of the lab tests specimens for infections—bacteria, viruses, and more! It is a hands-on job with many unique techniques that are taught, from ‘plating’ specimens to encourage microorganism growth to loading cutting-edge technology.
This is a full-time, 40-hour/week benefitted day-shift position working Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm with weekend and holiday rotation.
Responsibilities
Performs functions related to demographic data, test requisitioning, labels, and reports. Processes specimens.
Receive routine and tata specimens into the laboratory information system
Able to follow sterile techniques for bacterial, viral, and molecular sample preparation.
Assists in maintaining appropriate inventory supplies.
Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
High school graduate required.
Coursework toward a college degree preferred.
Previous laboratory experience preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a fast paced, demanding environment required.
