Overview:

Lilly is currently constructing an advanced manufacturing facility for production of API (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient) molecules located in Lebanon, IN. This facility is Lilly’s largest investment in manufacturing capacity and is intended to provide APIs for current and future products, including new modalities. This is a unique opportunity to be a part of the startup team for a greenfield manufacturing site, and the successful candidate will help to build the processes and facility to enable a successful startup into GMP manufacturing operations.

Main Purpose and Objectives of Position:

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the staffing, training, and leadership of the Lebanon Plant 1 (LP1) Manufacturing or Site Services maintenance teams. The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for providing maintenance assistance to, process development, commissioning, qualification, validation, and start-up. After start-up, the Maintenance Manager will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day maintenance support functions at LP1 and planning for the 3-to-6-month horizon. The Maintenance Manager is expected to lead by example and provide coaching to others in the areas of safety, quality, engineering, maintenance, reliability and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the safety culture and Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) compliance in daily work.

  • Deliver maintenance services and their supporting systems and subsequent operations as part of a new site startup.

  • Report, review and track key maintenance metrics and ensure compliance to established Lilly standards.

  • Ensure the maintenance functions are performed in timely, proactive, compliant, and cost-effective manner, while achieving departmental and customer objectives

  • Satisfy all administrative and supervisory requirements, including coaching, performance reviews, development, resourcing, and succession planning for assigned direct reports.

  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert on maintenance practices, Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) system, and Maintenance SOPs.

  • Partner cross-functionally with Maintenance Supervision, Reliability, Engineering, Quality, and Operations to establish alignment and awareness of the maintenance plan and work schedule.

  • Meet the Maintenance financial objectives through planning, directing, controlling, implementing, evaluating, monitoring, and forecasting as needed to achieve expense budgets and capital plan targets.

  • Partner with Area Changeover/Shutdown Coordinators to ensure maintenance inputs are provided in a timely and accurate manner to facilitate the master outage schedule.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (preferably engineering) or 10+ years of relevant maintenance/engineering experience (CMRP or RMIC certifications preferred)

  • 5+ years of Engineering or Maintenance experience, preferably in a regulated environment

  • Previous management or leadership experience including leading or working effectively with a cross functional group.

  • Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (SAP/MAXIMO) experience

Additional Preferences:

  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to train and mentor others

  • Relevant experience operating in an FDA regulated environment

  • Instrument calibration process knowledge/experience

  • An ability to create a sustainable team culture focused on the requirements of each customer through engaging, responsive customer interactions and ensuring a team Safety First, Quality Always mindset.

  • Recognized Maintenance/Reliability Industry Certifications – CMRP, CRL, CRE, RMIC

  • Knowledge of Maintenance & Reliability Best Practices and Performance Metrics

Additional Information:

  • Tasks require entering manufacturing areas which require wearing appropriate PPE.

  • May be required to provide support outside of normal working hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • 24-hour availability via mobile communication device is required.
