Lake County Government E911 Operator in Leadville, Colorado

POSITION: E911 Operator.

DUTIES: Serves as a professional E911 Operator with the Emergency Communication Center. Under general supervision of the dispatch E911 supervisor. E911 Operators work directly with the public, law enforcement, fire department, ambulance service and numerous other public safety agencies providing a communications link for both emergent and non-emergent responses to incidents. An E911 Operator may (and most likely) be required to work within the communications center in a solo capacity. Mandatory overtime may be Incumbent must engage in critical decision making and be able to adhere to directives, policies, procedures, correspondence, and memorandums. They must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English in an accurate and positive manner. They must anticipate needs of emergency personnel, have personal integrity when working with the public, exclude personal biases; perform effectively in high stress situations without compromising job performance, always maintain a professional attitude, remain calm in chaotic circumstances and with potentially emotional callers, and work together with the Patrol Sergeant on duty. The E911 Operator works well within a structured chain of command. Physical Activity & Work Environment Ability to work indoors in an office environment with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Ability to see close up and far away, with or without glasses or contacts. Ability to work outdoors in inclement, hot, or cold weather as required by attendance of County events or local emergencies. E911 Operator must be able to complete a physical exam which consists of, but is not limited to, the following examinations: - Urine Drug Screen - Hearing Screening - Height & Weight - Vision Screening - Postural Evaluation - Upper and Lower Body Orthopedic Screen - Grip Strength Analysis - Balance Testing - 3-Minute Step Test *Note: Additional testing may be required based on results of the physical evaluation and physicians' examination Hazard Notice Hazardous physical conditions (mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibration, etc.) High noise levels, extremes of heat and cold Local and non-local travel The employee must: demonstrate the ability to remain calm during routine, emergency, and stressful conditions; have the ability to retrieve information from various locations in the center when needed; be able to operate radio, telephone and computer systems under routine, emergency, and high stress conditions.

REQUIREMENTS: Eligible to work in the United States; High school diploma; Proficient in MS Word, Excel, CAD and other basic computer-based software.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must pass all training requirements to secure a position. Valid driver's license; Clean criminal & driving record (no felonies); Able to obtain a Colorado Bureau of Investigation OSN License; Able to obtain notary public certification. Effective and accurate multi-task abilities. Pass all required examinations within the testing process continuous and random drug testing. Testing process may include the following: General written exam; Dispatch specific test, Physical ability exam; Psychological exam; Oral board and Sheriff's interview.

WAGE: Salary is $49,000-$59,000 annually..

SHIFTS: Able and willing to work rotating shifts. Shift work consists of rotating days and hours to include weekends and holidays. Shifts are 12 hours. Must be flexible and willing to work additional hours when necessary due to exigent circumstances. Able to work well with others and meet team expectations. Accept feedback in a positive manner and apply learning techniques appropriately
