50% Area Industry Mentor (AIM) Marketing – Serve as an Area Industry Mentor (AIM) in Marketing specializing in the sales industry. Coordinate, execute and evaluate activities to support the KU School of Business’ Professional Program goals as it relates to professional selling. Independently utilize a broad range of skills and tools to structure student experiences and academic pursuits for successful transition to professional employment including assessing professional readiness, coaching/mentoring, conducting industry outreach, building constituent relations, and tracking outcomes. Duties may include but are not limited to:
Work in close coordination with Area Director, Director, Professional Selling Program, and Area Faculty to provide strategic direction to ensure co-curricular programs and course work contribute to professional readiness.
Provide guidance to address knowledge, skill and experience gaps including referral to other universities or Business School student services.
Provide coaching and mentoring to students that ultimately assist students in professional engagement upon graduation.
Serve a key role in the development and maintenance of a formal and engaged network of industry partners and professional practitioners in the marketing discipline.
Develop and maintain matrixes for tracking of key program outcomes.
Coordinate and collaborate with other AIM program members and professional program staff.
Complete or participate in other AIM related duties or activities that support the role, as assigned.
May teach 100-200 level 1-credit hour courses within the professionalism program. Teaching load would not exceed two (2) 1-hour credit courses in an academic year. Teaching responsibilities would include course design and preparation, consultation and advising, and assignment of course grades. Instructors should abide by the Area’s, School’s and University’s policies and procedures.
40% Assistant Director Professional Selling Program - Collaborate with the Program Director to enhance student engagement, strengthen industry partnerships, and expand the program’s reach. This role focuses on managing experiential learning opportunities, mentoring students, and implementing strategic initiatives that support both student development and the program’s overall success. Duties include but are not limited to:
Create and manage external education programs.
Manage the sales ambassador program by implementing growth initiatives, such as organizing coffee chats with potential students to foster engagement and expand outreach efforts.
Oversee and coordinate participation in 8-10 sales competitions per academic year, including traveling to two competitions to provide onsite leadership and support.
Plan and coordinate one sales trip per academic year.
Host in-house, program wide sales simulation each academic year.
Assist the Communications Department with the preparation and distribution of marketing materials, including content for social media platforms.
Serve as the Sales Club advisor, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to students.
Develop and share partner highlights through various channels.
Support the Director of Professional Selling Program, as directed.
May supervise student employees.
10% Miscellaneous Duties and School Support/Service
Participate as an active member of the School of Business staff. Including attending staff meetings and serving on School or University committees, as directed.
Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree plus three years of relevant experience.
Demonstrated experience or potential to mentor undergraduate business students, as evidenced by application materials.

Position Overview:
This newly created, dual-purpose, full-time staff position is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student success in the Marketing department at the KU School of Business. The role combines two key responsibilities: serving as the Area Industry Mentor (AIM) and as the Assistant Director of the Professional Selling Program (PSP), both of which support two high-growth specializations. As the AIM, incumbent will support junior marketing students by helping structure their academic and professional experiences for a successful transition to professional employment. In the Assistant Director role, incumbent will drive initiatives to enhance the visibility and impact of the Professional Selling Program. This dynamic position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to contribute to both student development and program growth.
This is a full-time, benefits eligible, 12-month position reporting directly to the Marketing Area Director, with strong secondary reporting ties to the Director of the Professional Selling Program. The position is designated as an on-campus position and will be officed in Capitol Federal Hall. Alternative and flexible work schedules may be evaluated as per KU policy and School guidelines.
