Position Summary

We are looking for a R&D Research Assistant in Fermentation , to plan and conduct parts of research projects in the field of Applied Microbiology.

Nestlé Research is based in Lausanne, Switzerland, employs approximately 1000 people and is comprised of five Nestlé Institutes: Food Sciences, Health Sciences, Food Safety & Analytical Sciences, Packaging Sciences, and Agricultural Sciences. A Day in the Life of a R&D Research Assistant in Fermentation in the Applied Microbiology group

  • Together with R&D scientists, design, plan and execute wet lab experiments related to different fermentation projects, using different bioreactor systems and microorganisms types

  • Leverage your knowledge to bridge the gap between different fermentation scales

  • Develop and implement different fermentation technologies and participate to the maintenance of related equipment’s

  • Coach and guide technicians and students

  • Present results to internal stakeholders

  • Work in compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)

What will make you successful

  • MSc in Microbiology or Biotechnology, or any topic related to fermentation

  • Minimum 3-4 years’ experience after MSc in the field of fermentation is a must

  • Strong hands-on experience with lab-scale bioreactors systems

  • Experience in industrial scale fermentation is a plus

  • Experience in down-stream processing is a plus

  • Ability to work in interdisciplinary environment

  • Innovative and entrepreneurial mindset

  • Pro-active, open-minded team player with good communication and presentation skills

  • Fluent in English (oral & written), French is a plus
