South Central Regional Medical Center LICENSED PROF. COUNSELOR in Laurel, Mississippi

Clinical Social Worker under the direction of the LCSW and/or the Program/Clinical Director. The Clinician is an integral member of the Multidisciplinary treatment team and maintains the secondary responsibility for the psychosocial needs of the patients. Clinician provides the individual, family, group psychotherapy, educational sessions and multifamily group therapy in response to identified patient needs. She/he participates in treatment team meetings, develops the psychosocial assessments, and develops treatment and discharge plans based on the goal of treatment. The objective of the clinician is to contribute to comprehensive and holistic delivery of services reflected in the individualized plans of care. The clinician may perform case managements functions when assigned by the Program Director. Essential Job Functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides direct clinical services in accordance with accepted standards of professional practice in a timely fashion and as outlined in mission statements and state and federal regulations

    Performance Standards:

  • Plans and conducts individual, family and/or group therapy.

  • Assesses and conducts completion of psychosocial within 72 hours (Partial is 3 program days) of admission, and initiates master treatment plan as assigned.

  • Participates in discharge and aftercare planning for patients and aids patients in seeking therapeutic resources for follow-up in their own community environment.

  • Plans and arranges admissions to special care facilities as indicated by the individual patient needs, upon physician’s request.

  • Coordinates and make necessary with available community resources to ensure continuity of care for patients.

  • Participates as active member of treatment team.

    Performance Standards:

  • Attends treatment team when indicated and reports and documents on progress and planned goals/objectives related to those patients assigned to him/her on a weekly basis.

  • Collaborates inter/intra disciplines to formulate and provide services which will facilitate patient progress towards goal outlined on master treatment plan.

  • Documents in patient medical record services rendered on a daily basis.

  • Delivers timely services as indicated in MMO mission statement, and QA standards.

  • Develops, plans, and provides in-services for inter and intra community/staff as assigned by Program Director

  • Actively participates in staff development, departmental and/or other committees as assigned.

  • Communicates with physicians regularly on patient’s progress.

  • Attends and facilitates clinical staff meetings.

  • Performs all other duties as required.

    Performance Standards

  • Collects, monitors and maintains performance improvement procedures for services rendered in peer review.

  • Responsible for chart audits and completion as assigned by Program Director.

  • Responds, assesses, and evaluates inquiry calls and executes appropriate interventions.

  • Maintains/Enhances knowledge base by attending in-service training (minimum of three per year).

  • Maintains self in accordance with professional organization’s policy of ethics.

  • GSW’s comply with LCSW supervision standards as outline in MS Chapter.

  • Performs other duties as requested by Program Director.

  • Assist with performing ADL’s as needed.

  • Participates in the supervision of clinical staff as assigned daily.

  • Chart group and individual notes on computer in timely manner. Sign off on all notes and charge sheets daily.

    General Performance Criteria Professional Qualifications

  • Graduate of Master’s Level Program, GSW, LCSW, or LPC.

  • One or two years of clinical experience in psychiatric, mental health setting preferred. Must have and demonstrate competency in written and verbal communication skills.

    Special Skills and Knowledge Requirements

  • Must have a thorough knowledge of current behavioral health concepts, principles, and methods of treatment and must have good human relations.
