Mississippi Employer Food Service Cook in Laurel, Mississippi

Job Duties • Report to work at assigned station in uniform; ensuring proper hair covering is worn. • Wash hands; check entire area for cleanliness, correcting any issues that may exist. • Assist in the daily production of all cooked foods for Medical Center patients, guest, and employees. • Prepare food according to standardized recipes in the correct amount needed for all food services. Insure that production sheet levels are adhered to, and the established standards for quality are being consistently met. • Plan cooking schedule to have food ready on time, but not too far in advance. • Prepare individual servings according to portion control standards. • Operate electric, gas and steam cooking equipment and kitchen utensils. • Maintain equipment in high degrees of cleanliness. • Set up the dining room steam tables and deliver food throughout the meal periods as needed. • Under the supervision of the Production Coordinator and the Cook's Unit Team Leader, prepare and serve food in the most professional manner. • When preparing meats, defrost according to sanitation rules; maintain proper temperature while cooking slowly. • Follow rules of safety and sanitation according to state and district regulations. • Insure the use of leftover food within a two-day period of time. Label and Date all leftovers and insure their proper storage for use at a later date. • Insure the proper storage of ALL foods and the proper dating of all prepared and leftover foods. • Assist in the sanitation and cleaning program for equipment and facilities in the Production Unit. • Respond appropriately to all food complaints, resolve problems, and work to insure guest/employee satisfaction. • Practice good time management and consistently meet deadlines, without being reminded. • Perform as a part of a team effort to work towards providing the most attractive and nutritious meal possible. • Perform other tasks as needed.

Minimum Qualifications  Must be at least 18 years old.  Must be proficient in English language. Must be able to read and write.  Must be neat in appearance. Must have 5 years of experience in cooking multiple cuisines.
