Mississippi Employer Clinic Float Clerk in Laurel, Mississippi

Position Overview: As a Clinic Float Clerk, you will play a crucial role in providing administrative support and ensuring the smooth operation of various departments within the clinic. Your primary responsibility will be to assist with front desk duties, patient registration, scheduling appointments, and maintaining accurate medical records. Additionally, you will be required to float between different areas of the clinic as needed to provide support where necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Front Desk Operations:

· Greet patients, visitors, and staff in a courteous and professional manner.

· Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls to the appropriate departments or personnel.

· Handle patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently, ensuring accuracy in registration and insurance information.

  1. Appointment Scheduling:

· Schedule patient appointments using the electronic scheduling system, taking into account physician availability and patient preferences.

· Coordinate scheduling changes, cancelations, and rescheduling as needed, communicating with patients and healthcare providers accordingly.

· Confirm appointments with patients via phone, email, or text message to minimize no-shows and optimize clinic workflow.

  1. Patient Registration and Records Management:

· Collect and verify patient demographic information, insurance details, and medical history during the registration process.

· Ensure completeness and accuracy of patient records, including updating information and entering data into the electronic health record (EHR) system.

· Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations in handling medical records and personal health information.

  1. Clinical Support:

· Assist healthcare providers with preparing examination rooms, stocking supplies, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in clinical areas.

· Escort patients to examination rooms, provide basic instructions, and assist with patient flow to optimize efficiency.

· Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate patient care and ensure a positive patient experience during clinic visits.

  1. Administrative Tasks:

· Perform general clerical duties such as photocopying, faxing, scanning documents, and filing medical records.

· Assist with processing billing and insurance claims, verifying insurance coverage, and collecting co-payments or outstanding balances from patients.

· Handle incoming and outgoing mail, correspondence, and other administrative tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

 Associate degree or certificate in healthcare administration or related field preferred.

· Previous experience in a medical office or clinic setting, with knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and electronic health records systems.

· Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping.

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, staff, and external contacts.
