ManTech Systems Engineer in Laurel, Maryland

Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Systems Engineer , to join our team in Maryland . This position offers up to 80 hours of Telework per month .

Responsibilities :

  • Build DevOps technologies on the AWS and Openstack platforms for the MASH Project.

  • Lead a team of integrators & developers, using ticketing (Jira & Gitlab), and Git workflow to maintain code bases.

  • Leads design and development activities. Guides system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans and system integration and test plans.

  • Interacts with the Government regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations and for associated problems, issues or conflicts.

  • Ultimate responsibility for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility.

  • Manage and develop system requirements to ensure the delivery of production systems.

  • Support private cloud SSP policies.

  • Participate in establishing and gaining approval of the definition of a system or component under development (requirements, design, interfaces, test procedures, etc.) that provides a common reference point for hardware and software developers.

  • Automate container image build processes leveraging AWS EC2 Launch Templates & Gitlab CI/CD.

  • Create customizable Ansible pre & post deployment playbooks.

  • Provide SME support for all existing legacy Openstack region deployments.

  • Develop project team technical documentation (as needed), customer facing wiki documentation, & testing procedures. Develops system Architecture and system design documentation.

  • Develop system design solution that satisfies the system requirements and fulfills the functional analysis. Define the methods, processes, and evaluation criteria by which the systems, subsystems, and work products are verified against requirements in a written plan.

  • Assess each risk to the program and determine the probability of occurrence analysis, and quantified consequence of failure in accordance with an approved risk management plan.

  • Analyze user’s requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications.

  • Conducts feasibility studies and advises alternative approaches.

  • Communicates with other program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives (as needed).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Fifteen (15) years’ experience as a Systems Engineer (SE) in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity is required.

  • Experience with Agile software development practices and processes.

  • Excellent written and communication skills.

  • Excellent presentation development & presentation skills.

  • Experience interacting with senior and executive level leaders.

  • Ability to lead a team of integrators and developers, utilizing ticketing systems such as: Jira and/or Gitlab, and Git to maintain code bases.

  • Openstack components/tools: Openstack, Prometheus, Grafana

  • Database: MySQL/MariaDB

  • Development tools/Programming languages: Python, Golang, Ansible

  • Tools: Gitlab CI, CI/CD, Jira

  • Knowledge of: Networking, DNS, DHCP

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Twenty (20) years experience as a Systems Engineer (SE) in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity is required with a Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university.

  • Openstack components/tools: Rook-ceph, Cinder (netapp & ceph), Nova, Neutron, Horizon

  • Development tools/Programming languages: Erlang, PXE, JSON/YAML, Puppet, Ansible, Kolla, Kolla-ansible, Docker

  • Optional: Opensearch, Skyline, AWS Launch Templates

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be a US Citizen

  • Must have a current active Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph
