Minimum Qualifications Applicants may be appointed to this position if currently reachable on the appropriate eligible list; OR are a current New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services employee with one year or more permanent or contingent-permanent service as a Program Aide and are interested in reassignment; OR are a current New York State employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent service in a position allocated to a Grade 11 and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 as appropriate of the Civil Service Law.

Duties Description The incumbent will support the Disaster Recovery Programs' Public Assistance Field Support & Training unit. Duties include but are not limited to: • Develop and maintain knowledge of all applicable State and Federal laws, rules and regulations relating to DHSES Recovery Public Assistance program. Acts as a resource and shares knowledge and expertise with staff, internal/external agency stakeholders and applicants. • Organize, maintain, and update electronic information and documentation for, disaster declarations, letters, program specific information, and reports. • Respond to applicants and internal staff requiring assistance with Grants Portal issues and processes. • Respond to inquiries from applicants regarding eligibility and refer more difficult questions to higher Field Unit leadership for resolution and action.• Attend meetings with FEMA, state agencies, and applicants as needed.• Assist with preliminary damage assessment team efforts and disaster declaration requests if needed.• Provide logistical support to Recovery unit activities by assisting in briefings and the preparation and organization of materials. • Perform other duties as required.*Work schedule may vary based on operational need. Occasional overtime may be required

Additional Comments NOTE: Support of operations during times of emergency and disaster from State Emergency Operations Center (EOC), state field offices and/or local deployments may be required, which would result in a change and/or increase in working hours, locations and/or duties.NOTE ON TELECOMMUTING: Employees are required to apply and obtain approval through management to telecommute according to the agency’s Telecommuting Program Guidelines.NOTE ON TRAVEL: Travel may be required, including during evening and weekends, approximately 10% depending on mission and assignment. You must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted New York State motor vehicle operator’s license.
