Mina Group Corporate Director of Wine in Las Vegas, Nevada

Position Overview:

MINA Group is seeking an experienced and visionary Corporate Director of Wine to lead our wine programs across our portfolio of restaurants. This role is responsible for developing a comprehensive wine strategy that aligns with our company’s goals of maximizing sales and profitability while maintaining best-in-class quality. The Director of Wine will work closely with restaurant leadership, sommeliers, and the corporate team to elevate the guest experience, drive strategic partnerships, and lead wine training for new restaurant openings. This position involves a significant travel component and requires hands-on involvement at our locations.

Key Responsibilities:

Wine Category Management:

  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive wine program that achieves key business objectives, including meeting or exceeding budgeted wine costs and sales across all MINA Group restaurants.

  • Ensure wine selections remain competitive and relevant at both the concept and restaurant levels, offering top-quality wines by the glass and bottle.

  • Spend at least 40% of time in restaurants, coaching sommeliers, ensuring compliance with wine standards, refining wine offerings, and assisting with openings.

  • Establish and communicate clear KPIs for sommeliers, providing ongoing feedback to help achieve targets.

  • Produce monthly KPI reports detailing business metrics and progress, shared with MINA Group leadership.

  • Review pricing monthly across all restaurants and make proactive recommendations to optimize profitability.

  • Implement and track upsell opportunities, contributing to increased wine sales and guest satisfaction.

Strategic Initiatives:

  • Forge and manage strategic partnerships that yield sponsorship revenue for MINA Group’s beverage marketing fund.

  • Monetize menu real estate by collaborating with winemakers, securing incremental sponsorship dollars.

  • Plan and execute wine-focused events at MINA Group restaurants nationwide, elevating the guest experience and driving brand loyalty.

New Restaurant Openings:

  • Develop tailored wine programs for new restaurants, ensuring alignment with company standards and objectives.

  • Be onsite for at least 10 days during new openings to train staff on wine knowledge and service, staying longer if needed.

  • Assist in recruiting sommeliers for new locations and set up distributors and vendors.

  • Set up and manage systems like Binwise and Restaurant 365 to ensure operational efficiency at new locations.

Travel:

This role requires moderate to heavy travel (50-70%), including overnight stays, to support new restaurant openings, training, and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in wine program management, ideally within a multi-unit restaurant or hospitality group.

  • Proven track record of increasing sales and driving profitability in wine programs.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach and develop sommeliers and restaurant staff.

  • Knowledge of wine certification (CMS, WSET, or equivalent) is preferred.

  • Strong business acumen with experience producing and analyzing KPI reports.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with a passion for creating memorable guest experiences.

Salary: The salary for this position is $130,000-140,000
