McLaren Health Care Manager Respiratory Services - McLaren Careers in Lansing, Michigan

Position Summary:

Provides overall technical direction and administration to respiratory services personnel, ensuring system of respiratory services delivery operates efficiently and effectively.

Regularly reviews and revises, as necessary, respiratory services standards and ensure procedures performed comply with all hospital, system and regulatory agency standards.

Coordinates provision of respiratory services with other medical functions and serves as technical resource for departmental personnel. Meets and consults with director respiratory services and peers for policies, procedures, forms, instrumentation, equipment and supplies to promote standardization across the system.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

:

  1. Plans and administers directly, and through subordinate supervisory personnel, the effective management and delivery of diagnostic and treatment respiratory services in accordance with all hospital, system and regulatory agency standards.

  2. Ensures quality, financial, and customer service objectives are met.

  3. Develops, secures approval of, and administers capital and operating budgets in order to meet agreed-upon departmental goals and objectives.Develops and implements appropriate methods to monitor adherence to budgets and resolve variances.

  4. Serves as technical resource to subordinates in resolving complex problems and in investigating and recommending corrective actions in response to incident reports and/or patient complaints.

  5. Reviews and approves recommendations for department equipment modifications, new supplies, and minor equipment purchases.

  6. Recommends and secures approval of major capital expense items initiating bidding process with vendors and upon approval, awarding bids.

  7. Fosters smoothly running respiratory services function through timely and effective resolution of disruptions.

  8. Ensures the attainment of objectives through the selection, development, training, and evaluation of respiratory services staff.

  9. Ensures that all respiratory services activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, federal, and governmental regulations and laws.

  10. Performs other related duties as required and directed.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Associate degree in respiratory care accredited by The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).

  • Current state license as a respiratory therapist.

  • Successful completion of the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) registration examination requirements.

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials.

  • Three years progressively more responsible management experience in an acute care facility with at least one year of frequent involvement with senior management, physicians, other health care providers, and external providers and purchasers.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, health services administration or related field.
