Job Description
This position is the Load Balancing and Web Application Firewall specialist for the Datacenter Network Operations team. This work includes the design, deployment, configuration, and maintaining load balancing appliances to optimize application delivery, load balancing, and traffic management across our network infrastructure. This position will also manage and administer Web Application Firewall (WAF) solutions (such as Cloudfare, F5 Distributed Cloud, etc.) to protect State of Michigan web applications from common vulnerabilities, such as SQL injection, cross-site scripting (XSS), and cross-stie request forgery (CSRF), while ensuring compliance with State of Michigan, Federal, and industry standards and regulations. This position will develop and implement security policies, access controls, and threat intelligence feds within the on-premise Load Balancing and WAF to mitigate emerging threats and vulnerabilities and safeguard against attacks. Monitors and analyzes network traffic, application logs, and security events to identify and respond to potential security incidents, breaches, and suspicious activities in a timely manner. This position will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including application developers, system administrators, cybersecurity analysts, and infrastructure engineers to integrate Load Balancing and WAF solutions with existing systems and applications seamlessly. They will participate in the evaluation, selection, and procurement of hardware, software, and services from Load Balancing and WAF vendors, and make recommendations to management and other stakeholders.

This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $2,500. Up to $1,250 to be paid upon for new hires and the remainder to be paid after satisfactory completion of the initial probation period (12-month period). This does not apply to current state employees.

Position Location/Remote Office: The office location is Lansing, MI. The State of Michigan is not able to offer employment to out of-state applicants that do not plan to relocate. The Department of Technology Management and Budget currently offers a hybrid work option which requires two days working on-site at the official work location and three days of remote work per week.

At least an educational level typically acquired through the completion of high school and at least three years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, or information technology technician and four years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst P11 or one year equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst 12.
