Overview

Director of Financial Reporting ObjectiveTo direct all aspects of the financial reporting affairs of the organization and prepare financial analyses of operations. To provide direction for the preparation of timely and accurate issuance of financial statements, board reports and other necessary reports as required by management for the Farm Bureau Insurance Companies and subsidiaries. To plan, organize, direct and control the activities of the Companies' accounting and financial functions. To be responsible for the preparation of all monthly, quarterly and annual reporting and compliance requirements for the companies relating to the Corporate Controller Division. To incorporate a functional understanding into the analysis and direction of the Insurance Companies in the areas of corporate taxation, reserving, investment reporting, reinsurance, internal controls, financial systems and companies allocated expenses.

Responsibilities

Director of Financial Reporting ResponsibilitiesRecruit and retain a qualified staff, measure and reward staff performance, and plan for succession. Complete performance reviews and participate in employee selection, promotion, discipline and termination in accordance with corporate guidelines. Develop and implement departmental training program. Utilize in-house and external resources to define training objectives, training expectations and measures results with a focus on effectiveness and consistency. Direct and supervise Accounting staff by clearly communicating job expectations, service standards and departmental and individual performance.

Qualifications

Director of Financial Reporting Qualifications RequiredBachelor's degree with a major in accounting required. Minimum eight to ten years accounting experience required. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required or relevant insurance industry experience. Applicable insurance designation or working toward designation required. Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products. PreferredKnowledge of insurance accounting, SSAPs', reinsurance, federal income tax, investment accounting and budgeting preferred.
