Job Description
THIS IS A REMOTE POSITION.
POSITION DUTIES - This position functions as the technical liaison for the Federal Commercial Driver License (CDL) and State to State (S2S) program. It is the bureau’s resource in matters relating to CDL, S2S and PDPS. It is responsible for tracking commercial and operator drivers’ records that include multi- state traffic convictions and changes of residency. This position interprets, reviews, and proposes changes to statute relating to the CDL and S2S program. This position gathers materials used to investigate and prosecute instances of driver license fraud and makes recommendations for the cancellation of driving privileges. This position also analyzes, evaluates, determines if there is a serious driver program problem and recommends solutions, and/or corrects driver records and documents for accurate input to the system. It serves as the final authority for the department to ensure that driver record corrections conform to department policies and procedures.

Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Possession of a Bachelor’s degree and one year of job-related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Civil Service Commission Rule 2-7 requires that all newly hired state employees submit to and pass a pre-employment drug test prior to their actual appointment. Due to the nature of work of the Department of State, criminal records will be checked. Any position offer will be conditional until results of the criminal background record checks indicate eligibility for employment.
This position requires at least 1 year of experience in reviewing, interpretating, and correcting Michigan Driver Records.
Due to Criminal Justice requirements for LEIN operators, position requires incumbent submit fingerprints for state and federal criminal background checks; qualify for access under the criminal conviction policy per the Federal CJIS Security Policy and Michigan addendum; pass the LEIN certification test and be certified within 6 months of employment or assignment; and retest/recertify every 2 years.
Position requires incumbent be a United States Citizen and pass a thorough background investigation to comply with Public Act 7 of 2008, Public Act 23 of 2008, and the Memorandum of Agreement between the State of Michigan and the Department of Homeland Security.
