Job Description

This position serves as program specialist responsible for the MCOLES Information and Tracking Network (MITN). This network is the single system through which law enforcement agencies, basic law enforcement training providers, and law enforcement in-service training providers complete mandatory reporting as required by PA 203 of 1965 and PA 302 of 1982 and the respective administrative rules promulgated under these acts. The creation and implementation of MITN was mandated by Executive Order 2001-2. The essential job functions of this position are to serve as the system administrator for MITN; serve as the statewide recognized resource for MITN, ensuring that the system meets Commission and constituent needs; conduct research and analysis to evaluate, design, and implement components of MCOLES database and document management applications; participate with executive management in policy development and procedures related to the business processes of MCOLES; and act as liaison with system engineers, MSP and DTMB information technology personnel, and end-users consisting of both MCOLES personnel and constituent agencies located across the state (Michigan’s law enforcement agencies, law enforcement officers, criminal justice academies, prosecutors, and the courts). This position is required to perform all duties in a bias free manner.

Required Education and Experience

Education

Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.

Experience

Four years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level.

Additional Requirements and Information

This position requires passing a pre-employment screening, including passing a drug screen, criminal history background check, and a fingerprint check by the Michigan State Police.

Special Requirements, Licenses, and Certifications

Equivalent combinations of nonprofessional experience, identified by the appointing authority and approved by Civil Service that are represented by subclass codes, will be accepted for classified, professional experience equivalent to the P11-level and above. The nonprofessional experience must be related to departmental programs and services that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Vacation and Sick Leave:Eligible full-time employees receive between15 and 35 personal daysand 13 sick daysper year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

Paid Parental Leave:Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leaveimmediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

Paid Holidays:Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
