State of Michigan - Department of Treasury Collections Manager in Lansing, Michigan
This position serves as the manager in a complex work area over two programs in the Collection Services Bureau (CSB) Services Management Division (SMD) Business Services Unit (BSU) Third Party Withholding (TPW), and State Agency Collections (SAC). This position is responsible for the effective and efficient administration of the programs, management and prioritization of activities within the programs and daily supervision of subordinate staff. Specifically, this individual manages the complex processing of garnishments, levies, and income withholding orders against state income tax refunds, lottery winnings, and state employee payroll. Additionally, this individual serves as the primary liaison with other state agencies, courts, and universities regarding SAC debt referral, reporting, and monthly reconciliation.
The employee performs various supervisory and administrative functions including performance management, training, program reporting, and evaluation. Furthermore, the employee in this position serves as the primary point of contact to other areas within CSB, CSB private collections vendor(s), cognate areas within Treasury, other state agencies, and external partners.
The employee in this position is a member of the Services Management Division team and, as such, leads special projects, gives presentations, attends meetings on behalf of the Division, instructs and mentors new staff, and works with peers and subordinates to resolve issues. This employee contributes to the continuous improvement of CSB by participating on committees as directed and assisting in the development and implementation of strategic goals.
