Job Description

An employer is looking for a Sr. Network Engineer in the Maryland area. This person will handle ticket requests that concern connectivity issues with firewall and security access. Typical issue might be a user cannot reach site or location, this person is expected to go in and troubleshoot the problem and open access. This person will help maintain switches, firewalls, routers and design solutions. They will also run the data centers night maintenance 2-3x a month. This person will need to come into office 1-2 days a week and need to live within 1 hour of the data center if they cannot troubleshoot or resolve issues remotely during a night time maintenance. Physical work of this job may include racking and stacking, shipping new equipment from the data center, sending new equipment to respective sites after configuring, etc. The updates that are being done during the night maintenance are full blown updates throughout the entire networking environment. This person must be okay with the possibility of going in for night maintenance which occurs typically 1am-7am, however they may take a day off of their choosing to rest.

Skills and Requirements

7+ years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on designing and managing complex network environments.

5+ years of experience maintaining switches, firewalls, routers

4+ years of experience with Python scripting, including automating tasks, developing tools, and integration

4+ years of experience with Interactive Connectivity Establishment (ICE)

Experience with Cisco fire powers or Paolo Alto

Experience with network management platforms.

Excellent written and verbal communication Experience designing solutions and engineering network connectivy to address problems

Experience with Arista network and switches

Experience with GitLab null
