WSP has a new opportunity for a Field Technician to join our Materials Engineering team on a full-time basis based in South Burnaby and/or Langley

What you can expect to do here:
Conducting on-site testing of various materials on construction sites, including but not limited to:
Plastic concrete testing including air and slump testing of concrete, and casting of test specimens
Testing of shotcrete, grout, and other cementitious materials
Coring of concrete and asphalt
Compaction testing of soils and engineered fill by use of Portable Nuclear Gauge
Compaction testing of asphalt
Carrying out laboratory tests on soils, aggregates, concrete, and other construction materials to applicable standards
Providing support during field programs in areas including materials and geotechnical engineering, and others
Working with and providing support to other members of the field technician group in assisting with other field, lab, and office activities as required
Participating in a team environment
Cleaning, maintaining, repairing and calibrating testing equipment
What you’ll bring to WSP:
Civil or Geotechnical Engineering Technology Diploma from a recognized Engineering Technology program
Willingness to travel out-of-town, if required
Valid driver’s license
Owning a reliable vehicle with applicable insurance capable of driving on to job-sites will be considered an asset
Good written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Flexible schedule, with the ability to work overtime and/or weekends as required
Safety oriented attitude; current First Aid and WHMIS training will be considered an asset
Previous experience working as a materials/geotechnical field technician is not required, but will be considered an asset
Compensation
Salary Range (In British Columbia): $61,600 - $84,700
The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. The salary range provided in this job posting may be subject to change for business purposes.
