Work with student(s) that may be on the spectrum, have a physical, cognitive, or behavioral diagnosis.
Assist in maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment that meets the educational, physical, emotional, and personal needs of assigned student(s)(s). Monitoring student(s)'s safety, redirect negative behavior, implement de-escalation strategies, and conduct crisis prevention and intervention strategies.
Toileting may be needed.
- Days:/ Hours: Monday-Friday, with varying hours, based on location, district, student(s) needs, etc.
- 7a-4p
- Hourly Rate: $18-$20 an hour based on experience
Job Description
We are seeking energetic Classroom Staff to become an integral part of our team! Create emotionally safe spaces in classrooms, while also recognizing when a student(s) needs verbal, visual, prompts, provide student(s) the necessary academic, social, and behavior skills, while adjusting their teaching to the individual needs of each student(s) in the classroom.
Responsibilities
- Assists teachers utilizing each student(s)s' individual IEP plans
- Assists in planning and preparation of instructional activities as determined by teacher's lesson plans
- Observes and addresses behavioral and educational objectives of student(s)s in the classroom according to approved procedures, monitors student(s)s during outdoor activities as directed, becomes familiar with student(s) IEP goals, and reports progress regarding student(s) performance and behaviors to supervising teacher
- Escorts student(s) to educational areas, lunch, to/from bus, activities, playgrounds, bathrooms, and clinical areas
- Participates in all program projects and activities
- Actively participates in team meetings and other pertinent discussions of student(s)s IEP goals
- Assist with building duties including; bus detail, lunchroom, recess(outdoor/indoor), among other tasks as needed
*Requirements *
- Have at least one year of relevant experience working with adolescents of varying ages
- Minimum of high-school or equivalent (associate's degree preferred)
- Ability to communicate clearly and in a timely manner with all team members
- Ability to adapt to changes in classroom setting(s), student(s), assigned task(s), etc.
- Be able to stand for long periods, and to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
