DESCRIPTION
About the Position
Do you have a passion and dedication to caring and advocating for children’s health? Do you enjoy a working environment that allows a mix of physically active tasks and more sedentary office work? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join a talented and passionate team!
This position will provide office assistant support for the Community Health Centers of Lane County Dental Prevention Program. Our team is a mix of Expanded Practice Dental Hygienist’s and office assistant support staff that go out to the local schools, head start programs and preschools. The dental team brings portable equipment to the school where the Expanded Practice Dental Hygienist screens participating children and applies sealants and fluoride when appropriate. The person we select must demonstrate excellent communication skills both in person and via phone. The screenings will take place in a noisy school environment. During school clinics, the office assistant provides at the elbow support directing children in lines, gathering groups of children from classrooms, maintains paperwork and acts as a scribe for the dental hygienist. Back at the office the position transitions to a wide variety of office support work that requires attention to detail such as proof reading enrollment forms, verifying information, entering data and setting up the visit in our electronic medical record system. Microsoft products are used on a daily bases. During school closure and breaks the office assistant will help support work in our other Community Health Center clinics.
About the Division
At Lane County Health & Human Services, we believe healthy people are the foundation of healthy communities. The Community Health Centers of Lane County provide affordable primary care for the whole family – infants, children, adolescents, adults, and seniors – as well as integrated behavioral health, alternative services such as acupuncture, and preventative dental services. At Community Health Centers, we focus on integrated care that values the whole person. Our services encompass not only treatment and prevention of illness, but also health education and behavioral health services.
At Lane County Community Health Centers we have adopted a model of primary care called Patient Centered Medical Home. Our services are organized around care teams who work collaboratively to support our patients. Our integrated care teams include primary care providers, nurses, medical assistants, patient care coordinators and behavioral health specialists. This model of primary care prioritizes the patient, who has increased access to other services beyond general medical care at our clinics. Our care teams also help patients reach their optimal health status by addressing social determinants of health barriers to care such as transportation, food insecurity, or housing.
