This position is a tiered position. Incumbents will have a position level assigned based on their skills and experience, and in alignment with position development plans. Position placement is at Amtrak's sole and absolute discretion.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Provides technical, logistical, and administrative support to the Track Assistant Division Engineer in the Lancaster and Perryville Sub-Divisions for theefficient and cost-effective management of construction, maintenance, and inspection of Track infrastructure. Work in both the office and in the field in all types of weather conditions to support a 24/7 operation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Observe field activities to ensure conformance with safety protocols. Correct activities that do not conform and advise supervision when necessary. Report observations to the ADE and assist in driving improvement in the overall safety culture. Implements safety work plans for the prevention &elimination of personal injuries and hazardous conditions on Amtrak property and the right-of-way. Ensure all regulatory and required inspections are performed on-time and at a high level through observations in the field. Correct poor performance inthis area and advise supervision when necessary. Monitor the condition of Track assets throughout the sub-division to ensure all aspects of the infrastructure meet or exceed all current Amtrak standardsand comply with all relevant regulatory requirements. Advise ADE where capital renewal programs should be planned prioritizing locations for "state ofgood repair" projects and programs. Requests and monitors the status of procurement for all material and services, and ensures the proper delivery, storage, and installation of materials aswell as the performance of any contracted services. Ensure adequate stock of material is available for running repairs. Plan installations and coordinateswork activities with other crafts and transportation. Communicates with system office and provides technical support in the field for all inspection, maintenance, and construction activities. Available 24/7to respond to emergencies and interruptions to the operations. Support planned work on weekends and nights in the field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience and training in position of similar capacity. 3-9 years of revelant track maintenance/construction/inspection experience Qualified or possess sufficient experience to be qualified in: all pertinent regulations and standards such as: MW-1000, NORAC, RWP, AMT-2, applicableFRA Rules & Regulations. Must be able to interface with all levels of employees and both external and internal customers. Must be skilled and experienced with MS Office, creating spreadsheets, presentations, memorandums, and utilizing other applications to perform jobfunctions. Demonstrated experience in all facets of Track inspection, maintenance, and const uction including but not limited railroad production work, railroadoperations, procedures, construction, and maintenance methods, as well as working knowledge of other crafts involved. Demonstrated knowledge and applied experience in railroad operations, operating rules, and divisional operating processes and procedures Possess knowledge of and ability to apply Federal Railroad Regulations including Roadway Worker Protection and those pertaining to Track SafetyStandards. Licensed Professional Engineer or ability to acquire. Held craft positions(s) performing Track inspection, maintenance, and construction. Five years of experience in railroad operations within the Engineering Department.

COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

PAY TRANSPARENCY: The salary range is $100,000-$110,408 for the Field Engineer position and $115,000-$126,969 for the Sr Field Engineer position. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, internal equity, etc. Depending on an employee's assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee's base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
