LOCATION: Lancaster, PA

HOURS : Full Time (32 hours per week). Monday-Friday. No holidays, occasional weekends.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs administrative and training responsibilities for Simulation training, American Heart Association (AHA) Programs BLS, ACLS, PALS initial certification and recertification courses. Performs duties of the AHA Site Administrator, Simulation Center, and training Site management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

  • Coordinates LGH Life Support/AHA courses: BLS, ACLS, PALS in accordance with Nursing Professional Development schedules for each course.

  • Schedules course instructors, manages course rosters and all course paperwork in Knowledge link.

  • Teaches classes.

  • Performs responsibilities as the Administrator for the AHA Training Site at LGH including WBH.

  • Processes AHA cards for LGH and external courses, maintains all course records.

  • Communicates and collaborates with the Director of Nursing Professional Development and the Life Support Program Manger/AHA Training Center Coordinator at the Penn Medicine Simulation Center, to ensure that LGH programs meet the AHA guidelines and discuss budget estimates for simulation supplies.

  • Performs all responsibilities for obtaining and maintaining the Heart code keys for individual employees.

  • Facilitates employee log-on and assists employees with issues pertaining to Heart Code.

  • Coordinates eligible recertification's for hybrid course programs that integrates the didactic portion of the class content via Heart Code with the instructor led in-person hands on skills demonstration.

  • Reviews and communicates learner feedback to the Nursing Professional Development Director and makes adjustments as needed.

  • Maintains Life Support/AHA equipment and manikins to meet standards for cleanliness and effective operation.

  • Develops any AHA/Life Support updates and ensures appropriate training materials are available to learners (library, electronic).

  • Coordinates and ensures administrations of learning updates to all instructors and collaborates with NPD to develop and disseminate hospital wide education for any program updates.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above:

  • Provide setup, scenario programming, technical support, and coordination of equipment use for simulation based training.

  • Trains other NPD staff on the use of simulation equipment.

  • Provides simulation based training, as needed.

  • Provides in-situ training for BLS, ACLS, PALS skills, and other mock code scenarios for hospital staff.

  • Identifies opportunities to provide simulation to enhance effectiveness of nursing professional development programs, such as orientation.

  • Researches new technology and practices to improve simulation training and shares with NPD team.

  • Performs and/or coordinates, tracks, all training equipment maintenance in training site/s.

  • Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned to support the department, entity, and health system organization.

  • Participates in any occasional evening/weekend responsibilities for this position as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s Degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Field; and 1+ years experience in the Healthcare field such as an EMT, Paramedic, Medical Technician, RN, etc.

  • Experience coordinating AHA programs such as BLS, ACLS, PALS or teaching classes independently

  • Must hold an active AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS certification as an instructor or will obtain instructor certifications within 3 months of hire.

  • Effective communication skills in various methods, verbal, written, and presentations.

  • Knowledge of computer programs, hardware equipment, and software applications relevant to simulator functions.

  • Organizational and time management skills to maintain materials in order, track multiple course/projects, and follow through assignments to completion in a timely manner.

  • Ability to synthesize information from a variety of sources and problem solve quickly.

  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and frequent interruptions.

  • Experience in coordinating educational activities and programs.

  • Experience and strong technical skills with audiovisual equipment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 0-1 years experience as a AHA Training Site or Center Administrator and/or Regional Faculty and or AHA Instructor Trainer.

  • AHA Instructor Trainer.
