Description

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team in the Palmdale/Lancaster, California area. In this role, you will be responsible for complex business transactions, maintaining balance sheet accounts, preparing financial analysis, and contributing to our annual financial audit. This role offers a long term contract employment opportunity in the industry. (Hybrid on-site work schedule)

Responsibilities:

• Record complex business transactions related to payroll, equity, operating expenses, and other areas in the general ledger with relevant documentation.

• Maintain balance sheet accounts by verifying and allocating activity, resolving discrepancies, and proposing necessary journal entries to reconcile accounts.

• Assist in compiling monthly and quarterly GAAP financial statements, preparing analysis of all financial information underlying the statements and supporting schedules.

• Contribute to all aspects of the annual financial audit; initiate corrective actions when necessary.

• Develop, perform, and document internal control activities.

• Regularly collaborate with accounting and finance leaders to identify, research, resolve, and communicate findings on accounting-related questions regarding business transactions and other non-routine matters.

• Conduct ad hoc financial analysis and reporting in support of other departments and stakeholders.

• Interact with external auditors, management, and other functional finance team members as required to accomplish goals.

• Prepare and enhance monthly reporting packages, including analysis of current actual results to prior period actual results for use in internal and external reporting.

• Read and interpret contracts, legal documents, and other agreements as part of job duties.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior Accountant or similar role

• Proficient in Bank Account Reconciliation

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field

• Familiarity with financial accounting statements

• Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles

• Awareness of business trends

• Hands-on experience with accounting software packages

• Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables

• Accuracy and attention to detail

• GASB knowledge preferred

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication and presentation skills
