McLaren Health Care Human Resources Generalist - McLaren Careers in Lake Orion, Michigan

Location: Lake Orion

Full Time Day: 8am to 4:30pm

In office position (no remote work)

Position Summary:

Responsible for providing support to leadership and staff employees in functional areas of human resources including Employee/Labor relations, New employee onboarding, and HRIS administration, following departmental policies and procedures, and federal and state regulations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the primary contact person for managers and employees concerning HR policies & procedures.

  • Assists others in the interpretation and application of HR policies, procedures, and labor contracts.

  • Responsible for union grievances and supports the arbitration process.

  • Conducts investigations and recommends appropriate action in areas of alleged misconduct.

  • Responsible for new employee onboarding and coordinating new hire orientation

  • Educates new employees on HR policies and procedures.

  • Conducts exit interviews to determine reasons for separation

  • Participates in departmental special projects

  • Performs related duties as required.

Required:

  • Associate degree plus 2 years’ experience or Bachelor’s degree

  • Labor relations experience

Preferred:

  • SPHR or PHR certification

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills in demanding situations.

  • Sound decision making and critical thinking skills

  • General understanding of wage and salary administration

  • Labor relations experience
