Savage Operations Manager in Lake City, Florida

Savage is looking for an experienced Operations Manager who will lead a specialized team in the planning, organization, and management of our Lake City terminal. As an Operations Manager at Savage, you will manage your operation as your own business encompassed by our operating framework, S7 Delivery System. You will be working alongside your team and customers building a strong networking culture where Team Members become more efficient, creative, and better at problem-solving.

    Position Summary:

The successful candidate must be team-oriented, have strong interpersonal skills, and have a passion for detail to ensure the handling of logistics supplies in our customer’s facility.

Here is what you will be doing:

  • Set an example of high integrity and fair treatment of others

  • Demonstrate a commitment to “zero occurrences” by effectively leading the safety, health, and environmental efforts at the operation

  • Effective utilization of the “Safety Specialist” program as a tool for accomplishing the safety goals of the operation and for developing future leadership

  • Development of a business plan and execution of the plan including budgeting, projecting, and cost management

  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships

  • Leadership with the ability to solve problems and make decisions both individually and in a team environment

  • Understand maintenance of equipment and maintenance management

  • Responsibilities are not all-inclusive and may change based on the needs of the company

    Requirements of a successful Operations Manager:

  • Engineer degree or equivalent experience preferred.

  • Ability to lead a team in an industrial setting, effectively balancing customer, company and employee needs

  • Understands and is committed to the growth and development of co-workers

  • Ability to delegate and/or involve others where appropriate

  • Ability to effectively communicate on several different levels (Customers, Employees, and other Managers)

  • Will motivate and persuade employees to follow his/her example in the areas of safety, health, and the environment

  • Ability to interact and work effectively with vendors, always maintaining a high level of integrity.

  • Must have contract understanding and execution

  • Possess effective communication skills with customers, team members, and business associates, treating all with professionalism and care.

  • Must be hands on, hardworking-self-starter, with mechanical and technical aptitude

  • Manage and maintain customer relationships

  • Manage hiring, training, leadership, and team building of operation

  • Manage safety & environmental issues, professionalism & cleanliness of operation

  • Planning & and productivity (effective utilization of people and equipment)

  • Oversee maintenance of equipment and facilities; project management

  • Responsible for profit and loss, budgeting, planning, and projecting

  • Must understand and commit to the Savage Safety Specialist Program

  • Must understand and commit to the Savage System

  • Ability to multi-task in any or all of these areas

  • Ability to travel on occasion

    Here are some of the physical requirements for this role:

  • The person should be in good physical condition.

  • Some of the work will be outdoors working alongside field personnel, climbing stairs, ladders, and on and off material handling equipment
