Job Title: Level 3 Machinist

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Level 3 Machinist responsible for metal cutting, drilling, grinding, and deburring parts to blueprint specifications. The role involves operating CNC machines, staging parts, and performing general helper duties in a large machine shop environment.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for production, quality, housekeeping, and other related duties.

• Set up and operate CNC machines.

• Transport material using forklifts and pallet jacks.

• Operate wash tanks and perform quality inspections.

• Troubleshoot and solve everyday problems.

• Flexibility to float from one machine to another.

• Follow the control plan for assigned machines or jobs.

Essential Skills

• 1+ year experience in a manufacturing environment.

• Experience running a machine in a manufacturing environment (CNC preferred).

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

• Experience performing quality inspection on finished parts.

• Sit down forklift experience.

• Deburring experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Basic shop class experience from high school.

• Experience with manual machining and machine operation.

• Knowledge of CAT machines, drill press, grinding, boring mill, and reaming.

Work Environment

Work in a massive, temperature-controlled facility with over 500 employees split into 5 shifts. The facility is clean, with a relaxed dress code allowing sweatshirts, t-shirts, and jeans. Safety is a priority with required PPE including steel or composite toe shoes, earplugs, and protective glasses. Shifts include: 1st (7AM-3PM), 2nd (3PM-11PM), 3rd (11PM-7AM), and AWS shifts on weekends. Overtime is scheduled every other Saturday.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lafayette, Indiana.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.47 - $24.47/hr.
