Job Summary:
Plans and provides for appropriate learning experiences for students with disabilities in a variety of educational settings. The person in this position is responsible for creating a flexible program and learning environment that provides specialized instruction for students with disabilities.
Essential Job Duties:
Completes weekly lesson plans based on a developmentally appropriate curriculum which follows the New York State Education Department Learning Standards.
Creates an Individual Education Plan (IEP) and Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) for all students.
Prepares lessons and other instructional materials to meet individual needs of students based upon their IEP.
Demonstrate adequate knowledge of subject matter, ability to think critically, and individualized instruction.
Create, implement and share effective behavior management techniques or plans.
Communicate effectively with parents (through notebooks, phone calls, conferences, district meetings, etc.).
Complete log notes based on student goals as per the IEP (progress and/or regression).
Complete Quarterly Progress Reports on all students that are distributed to parents and the school districts.
Complete Annual Review Reports/Amendments/Regression Statements for school districts (including writing appropriate observable and measurable child centered goals).
Participate in and share appropriate information at CPSE/CSE meetings with school districts.
Maintain client confidentiality within HIPPA/FERPA and agency guidelines.
Provide specialized educational instruction in a community-based setting (i.e. daycare or preschool center) or home environment
Attempt to provide “push in services” at community settings whenever possible.
Collaborate with teachers/daycare providers/parents on carryover of skills in the community or home environment.

Minimum Education Required:
Bachelor’s in Education or similar field. Must obtain Master’s degree per NYSED guidelines.
Minimum Experience Required:
No experience required; however 3-5 years is preferred.
Required Certification:
NYS Special Education Teacher Certification within 6 months of start date.
Physical Requirements:
The overall nature of the position is sedentary requiring little physical effort with occasional light physical exertion required. There is little, if any, exposure to environmental conditions
The constant physical demand of the position is sitting.
The frequent physical demands of the position are standing, walking, climbing, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, and eye/hand/foot coordination.
The occasional physical demands of the position are lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, stooping, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and feeling
All services rendered will be paid at the Fee For Service (FFS) rate, per the service provided.
