Responsible to: Way to Life Program Manager

Job Summary:

A Juvenile Justice Caseworker is responsible to productively maintain youth in the community during any period of juvenile justice system involvement without youth further penetrating the juvenile justice system.

Essential Job Duties:

  1. Form and maintain relationships with participants, their families and support systems, schools, community employers, and partners.

  2. Work one-on-one with participants to promote the development and growth of soft skills and independent living skills.

  3. Work with participants to teach independent living skills related to work and school.

  4. Attend all court dates with clients, transporting clients to the court appearance if necessary.

  5. Develop, plan, and facilitate workshops.

  6. Work with participants to develop positive work skills, explore colleges and careers, and to learn job readiness skills.

  7. Teach participants how to function independently, such as teaching how to open a bank account and budgeting, interpersonal on intrapersonal skills.

  8. Connect clients and their families to appropriate community resources to ensure continued success following program completion.

  9. Maintain open communication with the referral sources on a consistent basis.

  10. Complete all documentation and data entry in a timely manner.

  11. Complies with all federal and state regulations and agency policies pertaining to HIPAA, false claims, whistleblower policies, and all others.

  12. Any other duties assigned by your supervisor.

Minimum Education Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Drug & Alcohol Counseling, Human Services, Education or related field

Experience:

– Supervision of adolescents experience is preferred

License/Registration/ Certification:

– Valid NYS driver’s license is required

Training:

– OLV Human Services New Hire Orientation

Physical Requirements:

• Work required is one on one or in a group, in the community or in the home where the child lives, support child in various community venues; attend meetings and trainings in administrative buildings as required.

• The constant physical demand of the position is sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, and good vision.

• The frequent physical demands of the position are, repetitive motions, and eye/hand/foot coordination.

• The occasional physical demands of the position are lifting, carrying, climbing, pushing, pulling, balancing, stooping, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and feeling.
