Job Summary:

The Automation Engineer is responsible for providing technical production support, project leadership, and developing processes related to the manufacture of HVAC centrifugal chillers. The successful candidate will be self-motivated with well-developed problem solving and interpersonal skills, including a strong ability to lead teams, manage process improvements, and influence others in a cross-functional environment. This position is based out of our campus in La Crosse, WI and requires daily onsite presence and is considered safety-sensitive.

Work Arrangement: This position has been designated as full-time onsite.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform process improvement by introducing automation technology and equipment, and design the specifications, processes and other detailed documentation for those items.

  • Work with vendors and equipment manufacturers to complete validation, run-off, and installation of process systems. Process systems can include semi and fully automated systems in welding, pressure testing, and controls verification.

  • Conduct process qualification activities to ensure delivered processes meet required specifications. Create required documentation for new processes and provide or support training of production associates.

  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional individuals and teams to build consensus and achieve best practice outcomes. Understanding of lean principles and requirements for successful design of work cells.

  • Utilize a standardized problem-solving approach to troubleshoot product and process failures, and develop root cause solutions to prevent reoccurrences through the final manufacturing validation process.

  • Plan, implement and monitor automated machinery and processes, and also control, simulate, install, test and manage electrical or mechanical automation components.

  • Confer with automation vendors to determine tools, product and services specifications and arrange for the purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field of experience preferred, work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Three (3) or more years of related work experience required (will consider co-ops and internships as experience).

  • Basic computer navigation and troubleshooting skills, including knowledge of database structure and functionality.

  • Experience with automation systems planning and implementation.

  • Must have the ability to write, modify and troubleshoot industrial robot programming, including PLC programming and troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to read schematics, piping and instrumentation diagrams and to evaluate mechanical and electrical systems.

  • Experience with Fanuc controls and systems.

  • Basic understanding of HMI troubleshooting and interaction, and coding logic and control flow.

  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization is required.

  • Strong work ethic, great attitude, customer-focused, team-oriented and results driven.

Compensation:

Base Pay Range: $80,000-$110,000/annually
