Indian Health Service Supervisory Social Worker in Kyle, South Dakota

Summary Provides administrative and clinical services to the Kyle Health Center, Behavioral Health Clinic. The incumbent will take a leadership role in planning, developing, coordinating and evaluating a comprehensive mental health program. Provide top level clinical expertise to client/patients. Subject to emergency on-call duties as assigned. Recruitment Incentive authorized up to 25% of base pay Recruitment Incentive - New Appointees Relocation Incentive - Current employees Responsibilities Plans and coordinates behavioral health care services in support of clinic/department goals related to disease prevention and health promotion, provides supervision to the Behavioral Health staff and advises the Pine Ridge Behavioral Health Director on all matters related to mental health prevention, treatment and outreach regarding the Kyle clinic. Provides for the overall training, development and supervision of Behavioral Health Department staff. Plans and assigns work to BH staff based on PRSU priorities and capabilities of employees. Evaluates BH staff work performance. Works closely with all the PRSU departments and clinics in coordinating services and referrals, identifies training and continuing professional education needs for behavioral health providers in the Kyle clinic and assists with professional staff recruitment and outreach activities. Provides individual, couples, family and group evidenced-based psychotherapy for children, adolescents and adults, provides referral, intake, diagnosis, evidenced-based treatment, crisis intervention and case management services for mental health patients and utilizes telehealth technology, but may be required to travel to provide care. Facilitate and/or participate in community awareness, prevention and intervention activities, provides immediate assessment, referrals/transfers when appropriate and follow-up as needed with patients in crisis and provides behavioral health verbal and written communications to IHS providers as well as tribal state, federal and private agencies as appropriate. *This position is being announced concurrently under the Delegated Examining (DE) procedures. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR) Degree: Social Work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Selective Placement Factor (SPF) Must possess a License as a certified Social Worker or equivalent certification to provide Independent Behavioral Health Services. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Experience providing administrative supervision for behavioral health staff to ensure compliance with accrediting bodies; responsible for the coordination of a comprehensive mental health program, providing case management services; providing evidenced based treatment to individuals, couples, and families; providing health education to patients and performing mental status evaluation on new admissions; providing leadership in the development of policies and procedures. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements by the respective cut-off date for application review.
