We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and diligent Payroll Lead. As part of the GBS HR team, this role supports payroll processes across multiple countries through a team of payroll specialists.

Our ideal candidate is analytical and methodical, with payroll administration experience and strong knowledge of payroll regulations in various countries. People management experience, integrity, team spirit, organizational skills, and the ability to meet strict deadlines are essential. Collaboration with international colleagues is also key.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a high-performing payroll team and allocate and manage team workloads.

  • Oversee payroll processing across multiple countries, coordinating with local processors and manage escalations and complex payroll queries.

  • Design, maintain, and improve payroll systems and processes.

  • Support employee payroll queries in collaboration with in-country processors.

  • Liaise with third-party payroll providers, local payroll teams, and centralized support teams.

  • Prepare and design reports to support the business.

  • Manage relationships with stakeholders (payroll COE, Finance, HR, Benefits team, third-party providers, employees).

  • Ensure compliance with local legislation, including tax and social security regulations.

  • Maintain payroll guidelines and processes by developing and updating policies.

  • Develop and maintain audit procedures and control reports.

What we are looking for in our successful candidates:

  • At least 5 years of experience in Payroll and Team management

  • Experience of payroll processing across multiple APAC countries is preferred

  • Solid understanding of the principles of labour legislation

  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Logical thinker and innovative approach to root cause analysis, problem solving and process improvement

  • Excellent oral, written and client-facing communication skills

  • Experience of working closely with third party payroll provider model such as ADP, Safeguard or TMF would be considered advantageous

  • Excellent communication skills, ability to adapt to different styles and at different levels with impact and influence

  • Good written and spoken English is essential.

  • Additional language in Mandarin, Japanese, Korean or Thai is desirable
