Amentum Junior AP Accountant in Kraków, Poland

For our Global Delivery Organization (GDO) in Krakow we are currently looking for a Junior Accounts Payable (AP) Accountant.

This position is ultimately responsible for day-to-day accounting of project financials throughout the project’s life cycle in accordance with US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and company’s procedures. The aim of this role is to support the operations teams in the project billing process and ensure that month-end reporting is applied accurately following the timescales required.

Responsibilities:

  • Filling in required information on relevant forms in supplier invoice workflow and approval tool, based on the input provided directly in supplier invoices but also gained through additional, but not extensive research and follow up with relevant stakeholder or through individual research performed using company-wide systems and tools

  • Assigning approvers and routing supplier invoices to them for approval; performing additional research and follow up where the approver cannot be easily identified from the invoice or supporting documentation submitted to AP

  • Checking vendor invoices with the purchase orders/agreements and entering them by ascertaining the correct expenses to be accounted; interpreting purchase orders for proper matching with vendor invoices; follow up on unmatched items

  • Contacting the relevant person and getting revised invoices when the invoice details are incomplete

  • Inputting approved invoices into Oracle

  • Inputting check requests into Oracle as per established procedures

  • Internal routing of documents in the department depending on an action to be taken (e.g. to more senior team members for resolution)

  • Researching and answering to questions or problems of medium complexity raised by internal or external customers of AP

  • Preparing the data in the required way based on requests received from relevant stakeholders, e.g. certain expense schedules related to statutory audit, other information requested by auditors, tax group etc., under review and supervision from more senior staff, with higher level of expertise and accounting knowledge

  • Being responsible for invoice problem resolution for selected vendors or stakeholders, being able to apply less obvious solutions

  • Performing other tasks that fall under responsibility of AP department, that require specialized skills and considerable work experience in relation to these tasks, as requested by more senior team members or team leader

  • While performing the above tasks, follow established procedures

  • Perform majority of these tasks according to established procedures or work instructions, however with a limited level of supervision

  • If necessary, perform additional duties normally performed by AP Accountant or sometimes also by Senior AP Accountant, but under close supervision from more senior members of the team or team leader

  • Work experience gained through previous work in accounting or in an international work environment, supported by any specialized skills relevant for AP area is an asset

  • Theoretical knowledge or formal education in Accounting field not required, but will be an asset

  • Ability to identify issues in their area of responsibility, discrepancies vs the standard procedures or process and suggest potential solutions

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English

  • Good working knowledge of MS Office, especially MS Excel
