Jacobs Project Accountant (w/m/x) in Krakow, Poland

For our Global Delivery Organization (GDO) in Krakow we are currently looking for a Project Accountant.
This position is ultimately responsible for day-to-day accounting of project financials throughout the project’s life cycle in accordance with US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and company’s procedures. The aim of this role is to support the operations teams in the project billing process and ensure that month-end reporting is applied accurately following the timescales required.
Our Project Accountant:
Follows company policies, procedures and US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), statutory requirements and SOX (Sarbanes Oxley) controls
Maintains project setup and project close in appropriate manner to ensure completeness and accuracy of project’s evidence
Prepares client invoices in accordance with the contract terms
Provides month-end reporting on project performance including gross margin variances and all other financial aspects, prepares specialized reports and accounting data analysis
Effectively communicates with the project team during the entire life cycle of the project and provides continuous support and guidance
Monitors project balances on Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Unbilled and Unearned items, DSO (Days Sales Outstanding)
Prepares various journal entries such as: revenue adjustments, cost accruals, provision for loss
Liaises with other departments, clients and outside vendors to resolve cross-functional matters
Ensures that all deadlines are met
Participates in internal and external audits
Prepares project specific analysis and ad hoc reporting
Solves complex problems and takes a new perspective using existing solutions
Submits recommendations for improvements and actively participates in company’s initiatives in this area (process, procedures, systems and controls improvements)
May be requested to provide on-the-job training to new joiners
Here’s what you’ll need :
Master's degree in Finance or Accounting, equivalent major or equivalent experience
At least two years of professional accounting experience, preferably within an international business environment (Project Accounting background will be a strong asset)
Fluency in English, both written and spoken
Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, especially Oracle Financials
Very good MS Excel knowledge
Advanced analytical skills, accuracy and focus on details
Problem-solving thinking, solution-based and can-do attitude
Effective time and tasks management skills
Excellent communication skills and collaborative approach
Readiness to participate in non-standard initiatives
Strong commitment to self-development and continuous-learning
