HR Manager duties and responsibilities

HR Managers help managers and employees resolve conflicts, and they create and update many company policies. They also research ways to motivate employees and make businesses more appealing places to work in for potential applicants. Duties and responsibilities in an HR Manager job description may include:

  • Setting up HR polices including employee benefits for the starting company
  • Reviewing performance evaluations and other reports
  • Training new employees and working with department heads to create training programs
  • Helping Managers decide on salaries to offer to new hires
  • Answering questions from employees, and recording and investigating complaints when needed
  • Using software to monitor employees, the hours they work, and the tasks they complete
  • Using surveys and other methods to keep track of employee morale
  • Developing programs to increase morale, such as bonuses or top performer rewards
  • Negotiating with unions and other labor organizations
  • Process payroll and prepare all the tax documents for the new employees
