Your Role and Responsibilities

As a Technical Content Development Manager, your role and responsibilities typically represent content in software release planning, requirements, and delivery to deliver a successful content experience for clients. This role offers you the opportunity to showcase strategic guidance, technical curiosity, and unwavering tenacity. Overall, this role is to drive the development and execution of effective content strategies that resonate with our target audience, drive engagement, and ultimately contribute to IBM's success.

Responsibilities:

  • Content strategy development: Work closely with Product Management, Design, Development, and Support. Promote the power of Content in the customer experience. Help your writers understand the schedule, scope, and impact of releases, and allocate the talents on your team to meet project demands. Knowledge of Markup languages expert (such as DITA XML, Markdown, HTML) and authoring tools (Oxygen, VSC, AEM).

  • Content planning and scheduling: Work with your content team to help define documentation plans, audience and purpose, project schedules, meet deadlines, and priorities. Work on projects that involve worldwide teams. Manage resources to match project priorities consistently and continually, and advocate for Content Developers throughout the release cycle. Establish and communicate the mission and priorities for your team, and advocate relentlessly for technical content within the IBM Design organization.

  • Team management: Guide content development teams toward data driven improvements that benefit our customers, including analytics and support input, and track trends. Manage performance of team members. Empower team members by providing optimal tooling, education, and process updates. Grow your team by providing and guiding in skill acquisition, stretch projects, mentorship opportunities, and career growth. Ensure company policies and processes are consistently followed by team members.

  • Stay updated on trends: Monitor industry trends, content marketing best practices, and emerging technologies to keep our content strategy innovative and competitive. Promote common tools and efficiencies, looking for synergies or common standards that can be used across teams.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 5+ years of experience creating technical content, and 3+ years of management experience.

  • Effectively lead content creation, publication, and maintenance, ensuring high-quality content that resonates with the target audience.

  • Strong understanding of content strategy, including how to align content with business goals.

  • Understanding of search engine optimization principles and search engine marketing strategies to increase content visibility and improve content effectiveness.

  • Expertise in managing content projects, prioritizing tasks, and collaborating with cross-functional teams, including designers, developers, and subject matter experts.

  • Knowledge of agile and continuous delivery development environment and experience with content collaboration tools to facilitate seamless teamwork and workflow management.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Degree in Computer Science, IT, Communications, or related field, or a technical degree.

  • Experience in applying Design Thinking practices, understand usability testing or UI content design, and ability to learn how to infuse AI into our content operations.

  • Knowledge of content localization and globalization practices and ability to analyze and derive insights from quantitative and qualitative user feedback.

This job requires you to be fully COVID-19 vaccinated prior to your start date and proof of vaccination status will be required before your start date.
