About the Opportunity

Jacobs are recruiting for a Project Controls Engineer (Planning focus but duel role with cost) to join our The Nuclear Power Engineering and Technical Solutions Project Controls team to support our key frameworks for Small Module Reactors across the UK. This is a key role within our Operational Delivery Support Team and in this role you will support all our frameworks within the UK wide portfolio.

  • Accountable to the Operations Manager and responsible to develop & manage schedules to incorporate risk, change, resource requirements and cost in accordance with Jacobs requirements and Standards.

  • Planning Engineers will create plans for the full project lifecycle including development and design for the Small Module Reactor Programme in the UK.

  • The cost element of this role will be responsible for providing cost management support to the Framework teams and will monitor, control and forecast the costs during the Project lifecycle. This role has no direct reports.

  • This role can be based at any of our UK Jacobs Office and may require from time to time, business travel to UK sites/stations. Flexible working arrangements between office and home may be possible.

  • Everyone working in our team will have a proven track record of working within highly regulated environments with high safety standards and culture.

  • Good communication and organisational skills are a must with the ability to develop relationships and maintain effective networks and be results-focused with a team-centred approach.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Minimum of HNC/HND ideally in an Engineering discipline or relevant experience.

  • Breadth of experience across whole project and programme lifecycle. e.g. Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation/Commissioning.

  • Good working knowledge of financial systems.

  • Understand the inter-relationship between time cost and commercial aspects of the project life cycle.

  • Experienced in the latest version of Primavera.

  • The ability to reconcile cost information as it applies to the programmes of work.

  • Proficient in the use of estimating, scheduling, programming and risk tools, and Earned Value Analysis.

  • Ability to communicate well at all levels of management, produce monthly reports, to an agreed reporting cycle, to provision of intelligent information.

  • Capture project budgetary costs and resources in the plan to determine time phasing of expenditure and the total project budget.

  • Able to establish robust Work Breakdown and Project Control Structures in terms of project scope, in accordance with Investment Delivery processes, templates and Procedures.

  • Knowledge to maintain and control project baselines in line with company procedures and guidance.

  • Experienced to integrate 3rd party schedules and data into the overall project plan.

  • Ability to communicate well at all levels of management and can produce monthly reports, to an agreed reporting cycle, through the provision of intelligent information and analysis.
