Job Summary
The Manager, Business Office supports the Director, Business Office in overseeing the daily operations and strategic management of accounts receivables processes. This role is responsible for supervising multiple aspects of business office functions, including billing, collections, payment processing, customer service, and denial management. The Manager ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, payer contracts, and organizational policies while driving efficiency and quality in operations. The position also fosters a patient-focused and collaborative business office environment to support the financial performance of the facility.
Essential Functions
Directs and manages day-to-day operations and personnel within the business office, ensuring departmental goals align with organizational objectives and best practices.
Supervises teams responsible for billing, third-party follow-up, cash processing, customer service, and denial resolution, ensuring accurate and timely processing of accounts receivables.
Monitors payer contracts and financial performance to ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory guidelines while optimizing cash flow and minimizing write-offs.
Continuously evaluates and improves workflow processes to enhance productivity, cost-effectiveness, and operational efficiency.
Collaborates with other business office teams and departments to ensure outgoing bills meet 100% accuracy standards and support patient-friendly billing practices.
Develops and mentors business office staff to ensure professional growth and high-caliber performance.
Oversees departmental budgets, including FTE and operating expenses, and monitors monthly performance to ensure alignment with financial goals.
Participates in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and systems to address changes in federal regulations, payer requirements, and competitive market conditions.
Leads or supports performance improvement initiatives to enhance the quality and efficiency of business office operations.
Ensures compliance with state, The Joint Commission, and other regulatory standards governing business office processes and patient accounts management.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Finance, or a related field required
3-6 years of experience in a healthcare business office setting, including billing, collections, or revenue cycle management required
Familiarity with payer contracts, denial management, and accounts receivable workflows required
2-4 years of leadership or supervisory experience in a business office or related financial environment preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong understanding of accounts receivable processes, billing, and collections within a healthcare environment.
Knowledge of payer contracts, regulatory compliance, and revenue cycle best practices.
Proficiency in business office technologies, including billing software and financial reporting tools.
Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively manage teams and foster collaboration.
Ability to monitor and manage budgets, identify variances, and recommend cost-saving strategies.
