Manulife Manager, Accounts Receivable in Kitchener, Ontario

The Manager of Accounts Receivable will be responsible for leading the accounts receivable team, ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of collections of premiums, as well as client terminations. This role requires a proactive leader with a keen eye for operational detail and a strong aptitude for financial analysis.

The successful candidate will develop and implement strategies to optimize AR aging KPIs, manage risk, and maintain strong relationships with clients and Account Executives. By fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment, the Manager of Accounts Receivable will play a critical role in supporting the operational and financial health and growth of the company.

Position Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management:

  • Lead and manage the accounts receivable team, providing guidance, training, and support.

  • Set performance goals and objectives for the team and monitor progress.

  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

Accounts Receivable Operations:

  • Oversee the AR process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

  • Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and take appropriate action to collect overdue accounts.

  • Develop and implement effective collection strategies.

  • Manage disputes and resolve issues related to billing and payments.

  • Manage client terminations and relevant due diligence processes.

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare and analyze accounts receivable reports and metrics.

  • Provide regular updates to senior management on the status of accounts receivable.

  • Identify trends and areas for improvement in the accounts receivable process.

Process Improvement & Risk Governance:

  • Evaluate and improve existing accounts receivable processes and systems.

  • Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable laws and regulations.

  • Develop and maintain internal controls to mitigate risks.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with Sales teams to ensure alignment on AR billing and collections processes.

  • Act as a point of escalation for complex accounts receivable issues and guide to resolve them.

  • Engage with stakeholders to identify areas for improvement in the accounts receivable process.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounts receivable management or a similar role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (French & English) - The successful candidate could have to also communicate in French to support clients from various jurisdictions including Quebec.

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and accounts receivable processes.

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and pivot tables, PBI, etc.)).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Salary range is expected to be between

$68,250.00 CAD - $113,750.00 CAD
