WSP USA CAD Technician / Window Simulator in Kitchener, Ontario
WSP is currently seeking a CAD Technician / Window Simulator to join our Buildings group, located at our Kitchener office. Reporting to the Southwestern Ontario Director of Building Sciences this position will be responsible for simulating windows, doors and skylights and to create simulation reports in compliance with applicable NFRC and CSA standards
Responsibilities
Under the guidance of a Project Manager, the simulator shall learn applicable NFRC and CSA standards.
Simulate windows, doors and skylights for U-value, SHGC, VT and CR in accordance with NFRC and CSA standards using softwares such as Therm and Window, and our Window Report Generator and Door Report Generator
Create written report of simulation results for client and inspection agency in compliance with NFRC
Send simulation reports to the client and make changes to the simulations if necessary. Send simulation files and reports to the clients inspection agency. The simulator is responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of simulations and reports
Conduct research projects and write client reports
Work closely with manufacturers to deliver proposals and obtain required project information and occasionally attend window industry meetings such as Windoor by Fenestration Canada
Apply sustainable thinking and practices within project delivery
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
College diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Building Science, or Architectural Technology
Minimum B average and involvement in volunteer or industry associations
AutoCAD skills are an asset.
Previous co-op / summer work experience in the construction or engineering industry is ideal
