SAIC Explosive Ordnance Disposal Instructor in KIRTLAND AFB, New Mexico
Description
SAIC is seeking an Explosive Ordnance (EOD) Instructor to support the Defense Threat Reduction Agency’s Nuclear Enterprise Directorate. This position would specifically support the Defense Nuclear Weapons School (DNWS) on Kirtland Air Force Base, NM. The EOD instructor is responsible for instructing Explosive Ordnance Disposal and CWMD curricula in a variety of delivery methods, as well as reviewing, updating, developing, and building course content for in-residence, Mobile Training Team (MTT), and e-Learning (Virtual and Computer Based Training (CBT)) delivery.
Primary Duties Include:
Provide subject matter expertise in the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) area and classroom instruction. Requires extensive EOD experience in planning, coordinating, and executing.
Coordinate and conduct EOD related nuclear weapons incident response training and exercises to custodial and other incident response units.
Provide administrative support for explosive ordnance disposal related courses, exercises, studies, and evaluations.
Update and revise course material IAW explosive ordnance disposal specified and implied tasks in US.
Government nuclear weapon recapture and recovery directives, plans, and other authoritative documents.
Provide technical review of course materials and curricula; assist in the development, updating/revising, and execution of courses, exercises, studies and assessments.
Develop solutions to problems of unusual complexity which require a high degree of ingenuity, creativity, and innovativeness.
Develop course materials and deliver instruction to an array of audiences including senior military and civilians.
Provide classroom instruction on Explosive Ordnance Disposal and related topics.
Develop technical briefings, information papers, and presentations for branch courses to educate managerial level and joint military personnel.
Conduct research in relevant areas and provide subject matter expert advice to instructor cadre.
Develop, revise and update in-resident and e-Learning (Virtual and Computer Based Training) curricula for accuracy, completeness, currency, and compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
Evaluate curricula to identify gaps, determine requirements, and develop content for new and existing courses.
Facilitate, conduct, and execute inter-agency coordination including meetings, scheduling, planning, curriculum review, and course execution.
Physical demands include bending, sitting, standing, and driving for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift, carry, and move cases and equipment such as training aids and Protector Cases/Road.
Cases over rough terrain.
Transport students and/or move equipment in preparation for training courses. Must possess a valid state driver’s license and be trained on the vehicle prior to use. Vehicles may include passenger vans (up to 15 passenger), sedans, and SUVs.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors and nice (9) years, Masters and seven (7) years, experience either concurrent or collectively, as an EOD Technician or Officer.
Top Secret Clearance.
Graduate of DoD Navy School Explosive Ordnance Disposal or DOJ Hazardous Device School.
Versed in Joint EOD procedures, techniques, and standards; demonstrable application/use of radiological search equipment.
Demonstrable ability, as an instructor, to utilize digital media systems and analog products to effectively communicate; knowledge of presentation best practices with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to audiences of varying backgrounds.
Ability to travel for work at least ¼ of the calendar year.
Support field training and exercises in a variety of austere conditions, including rough terrain, industrial settings, and in various climates.
Must be able to qualify as Rad Worker and be able to work in contaminated environment.
Team player, adaptable to changing needs and priorities; excellent follow-up, collaboration, and time management skills.
Natural ability and motivation to quickly learn new materials/technologies.
Ability to work at a fast-pace with little oversight while producing quality products.
Excellent technical problem solving skills.
Ability to manage and conduct training events and courses, as well as advise other instructors on nuclear weapons instructional matters.
Ability to conduct research in relevant areas and give subject matter expertise advice to instructor cadre.
Must have excellent written and oral communications skills and ability to present material that can be understood at multiple levels, including senior leaders (i.e., flag and general officers or members of the senior executive service).
Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and outside agencies.
Preferred Qualifications:
10 years of full time or relevant experience.
Working knowledge of Nuclear Enterprise is desired.
Prior employment in a custodial unit, Stabilization unit, or within the Nuclear Enterprise.
Demonstrable use of Microsoft Office products.
Experience with Triage, nuclear deterrence, national nuclear policy and doctrine.
Experience with United States Strategic Command, Joint Staff, Air Staff, DOE/NNSA laboratories, and the Office of the Secretary of Defense processes and organization.
