Job Description:

Our CSWE accredited undergraduate and graduate Social Work education programs reflect high standards for academic, social and professional performance designed to provide graduates with a bright and successful career in the field of social work once they graduate.

We are currently seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Professor of Practice. In addition to teaching undergraduate level social work courses, the Assistant Professor of Practice serves as the BSW Field Coordinator, engaging with students and field instructors from community agencies in the supervision of undergraduate field practicums. The position is a non-tenure track faculty appointment which is expected to begin in Fall, 2024.

We seek creative, productive, and innovative educators with a strong commitment to serving students and the community at large. Applicants must hold a master’s degree in Social Work from a CSWE accredited program. Applicants with a Ph.D. in Social Work are encouraged to apply. Applicants with practice experience with substance use disorders and LCDC certification are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Two years post-MSW social work practice experience

  • Master’s in social work from a CSWE accredited program

Texas A&M University-Kingsville offers a low student/faculty ratio, a wonderful collegial environment, and competitive program support for faculty. The University is located in South Texas, which is full of fresh air, open spaces and charm. Salary is competitive and will be commensurate with experience. Interested applicants should apply online at http://javjobs.tamuk.edu and submit a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, unofficial copies of all college transcripts, and contact information for three (3) references. Review of applications will continue until the position is filled.

Prior to the issuing of a letter of appointment, official transcripts must be received directly from each degree-granting institution. However, if transcripts are from an international institution, it is the responsibility of the prospective faculty member to have the transcripts translated and evaluated by an approved credential evaluator (AACRAO) at http://www.aacrao.org/internationalforeignEdCred.cfm.

All positions are security-sensitive. Applicants are subject to a criminal history investigation, and employment is contingent upon the institution’s verification of credentials and/or other information required by the institution’s procedures, including the completion of the criminal history check.
