Job Description
Insight Global is looking to hire a Senior Bilingual Life Underwriter for our client, a Canadian insurance firm. You will be joining the Retail Operations team and will be reporting into the Supervisor, Underwriting. This is an opportunity to serve as a leader to other underwriters within the team and apply your medical knowledge to assess the risk of individual life insurance applications. You can expect the day-to-day to consist of activities relating to assessing mortality and financial risks, reviewing extensive medical information, and consulting with stakeholders of various levels (internal and external). In this role, you will be working with approval limits of up to $3MM for individual life and $1MM for critical illness policies. The team consists of less than 30 people, and you will be working in a tight-knit group by leaning on them for support and sharing ideas for favourable liability assessments.

Skills and Requirements
Fully bilingual in both English and French
4+ years work experience in individual underwriting, three of which has been at an intermediate level
Experience coaching/mentoring others, especially more junior members of the team
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, email, internet and database computer software
Comprehensive knowledge of medical and financial terminology
FLMI with underwriting specialty (Fellow, Life Management Institute)
Working towards FALU (Fellow, Academy of Life Underwriting)
Completion of a university degree in life sciences, nursing or kinesiology
Well-developed analytical and problem resolution skills - Ability to be decisive and show consistently good judgment
Well-developed organizational skills
Clear writing and verbal communication skills
Ability to work within and apply decision methodologies
Very collaborative in approach to work null
