Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced and results-oriented Piping Design Lead to join our Eastman Corporate Engineering team. This position will work with both local and remote design teams to lead the execution of piping scope of work. As the Senior Piping Design Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing and executing the piping scope for various large capital projects during Pre-FEED, FEED and Detail Design phases to ensure their successful completion. Your expertise in piping design and practices, combined with your extensive experience in the chemical industry, will be crucial in leading a project team of piping designers and driving efficiency in execution.
Location: Kingsport, TN or Houston TX
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement project specific piping design execution plans to ensure efficient and effective project execution
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, including all engineering disciplines, project managers, Operations and Procurement, to ensure seamless project integration and successful project delivery
Lead and manage the execution of piping scope of work at the selected engineering service provider in all phases (Pre-FEED, FEED and Detail Design)
Plan resources requirements to execute the piping scope of work
Coordinate piping design with stress analysis to advance the work and minimize rework
Monitor and report actual progress and forecasting /check for discipline activities, including management of labor hours and delivered documents
Review piping 3D model, drawings, ISOS, specifications and technical documents, ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes and regulations
Apply industry codes and standards relevant to the chemical industry, such as ASME, API, ANSI, and other applicable codes, in the design and evaluation of piping systems
Conduct thorough reviews and quality control checks to ensure compliance with design specifications and project requirements
Utilize software tools and applications, such as S3D, E3D, AutoCAD, Navisworks, MicroStation, Bluebeam, Navisworks and other piping design software to enhance piping design efficiency
Qualifications
Minimum of an Associate’s Degree or equivalent in Piping Design or relevant discipline required
Minimum of 10 years of experience in piping design with focus on the chemical or petrochemical industry
Minimum of 5 years of experience as lead piping designer with experience in large capital projects execution
Ability to lead design efforts on multiple assignments of varying complexity
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills for implementation of cross-functional process improvements
Ability to mentor and develop less experienced team members
Proven experience in leading a project team of designers, with excellent leadership and communication skills
Familiarity with capital stage gate process and understanding of project execution
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to propose innovative and practical engineering solutions
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Knowledge of safety regulations and standards related to piping design in the chemical industry
