In addition to launching new therapies and technologies across our business, CSL Behring also has recently undergone a redesign of its commercial and medial organizations, involving the creation of two new functions within the CSL Behring Business Unit: Medical Affairs and Global Access, Business Operations, and Commercial Development (ABC). This context requires a creative and proactive Communications professional who has a vision both to build the employee communities for the new ABC and Medical Affairs organizations, as well as to drive external portfolio objectives, BU visibility, and thought leadership to shape the market in accordance with our efforts to serve patients with our innovative therapies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, manage, and implement all functional communications supporting the ABC and Medical Affairs organizations.

  • Serve as the primary communications business partner and strategic counselor to the SVP ABC and SVP Medical Affairs and their respective leadership teams.

  • Design and implement internal communication plans that build an identity for the newly formed ABC and Medical Affairs organizations, create team affinity and community, and motivate employees toward achieve high-performance outcomes.

  • Design and execute internal and external thought leadership plans for the SVP ABC, SVP Medical Affairs, and members of their teams that drive outcomes associated with internal organizational imperatives and external therapeutic area and other business priorities.The plans will include driving the executives’ social media profile and engagement; strategically identifying and securing speaking and publication thought-leadership opportunities that drive business objectives; and enabling the executives’ participation in advocacy activities to shape policy in partnership with the Policy, Advocacy & Government Affairs team.

  • Manage media engagement of ABC and Medical Affairs team members, as warranted, and execute other communications tactics to amplify coverage and key messages associated with product and portfolio objectives.

  • Design and execute above-brand disease awareness and other campaigns for non-clinical audiences to drive therapeutic area, advocacy, and other corporate objectives.

  • Manage and/or assist in the management of ABC and Medical Affairs issues that may impact the CSL business and/or the company’s reputation.

  • In partnership with the Agile Site Communications Team, ensure that resources are leveraged to enable communications with and engagement of ABC and Medical Affairs team members at all locations around the world.

  • Leverage multiple Centers of Excellence, and select and manage communications agencies, in support of business communications objectives for ABC and Medical Affairs.

  • Ensure all ABC and Medical Affairs employee communications are aligned and coordinated, and adhere to CSL Group branding guidelines.

  • Ensure CSL Group communications processes and policies are established and adhered to globally within ABC and Medical Affairs organizations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or closely related field; MBA or Master’s in Communications a plus.

  • 12 years' biopharmaceutical industry communications experience including in product or corporate communication.

  • Experience with communications related to biopharmaceutical access, product/portfolio strategy, and/or medical affairs strongly preferred.

  • Experience managing communications within a global environment.

  • Advanced, progressive professional development training is preferred.

  • Applied Science communications experience of 10+ years is preferred.

  • 3+ years digital communications experience is preferred.

  • Excellence in creation of communications capabilities, including written, presentation, and verbal content across media channels.

  • Strong strategic and global mindset.

  • Ability to understand complex scientific, economic, and other types of information and incorporate into effective, compelling, and differentiated communications plans that achieve specific functional or business priorities.

  • Able to gain trust and influence as counselor to senior leaders.

  • Effective in a highly matrixed organization and able to influence others, while fostering strong working relationships.
