Position Overview:

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) seeks a Lead Systems Engineer to join our team in Kent, Washington, which is in the Puget Sound area.

We focus on rapid prototyping and program development to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies for a variety of customers. You will play a key role with a group that works all facets of engineering: concept development, proposal writing, requirements and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.

You will be part of an experienced, interdisciplinary team developing unique systems to meet challenging requirements on a dynamic development program.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.

  • Evaluate customer and operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters, and assure compatibility of all physical, functional, and program interfaces.

  • Perform various analyses to optimize total system of systems or system architecture.

  • Perform analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance, and other quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.

  • Develop, maintain, and identify improvements for planning, organization, implementation, and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management, and technology readiness assessment.

  • Resolve cross-functional technical issues.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Active - Top Secret

Travel may be required up to 10% of the time, domestically, depending on business needs.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • 10+ years of experience in Systems Engineering.

  • Experience utilizing Model Based Engineering (MBE or MBSE) tools.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with spacecraft or space systems architecture.

  • Experience in development, build, and test of spacecraft.

  • Experience with requirements development, verification, validation, ICDs, risk, issues and opportunities management and trade studies.

  • Top Secret clearance or Tier 5 (SSBI) within the past 5 years.

Typical Education/Experience:

Senior (Level 4): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Lead (Level 5): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Principal (Level 6): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 20 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+15 years' related work experience, Master+18 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation :

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Basic relocation will be offered for eligible internal candidates.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range, Senior (Level 4): $128,350 - $173,650

Summary pay range, Lead (Level 5): $157,250 - $212,750

Summary pay range, Principal (Level 6): $186,150 - $251,850
