Why This Role Matters

Our Power & Infrastructure Planners are experts who utilise their electrical qualifications and knowledge to support BT’s M&E programmes.

You will be the gateway for customer requests and ensure we have the space, power & infrastructure within our exchanges to meet ours and our customer’s needs.

You will be supporting all M&E delivery programmes, completing a range of activities- capacity management, compiling SOR’s (Statement of Requirements), holding site meetings, matrix management of engineering teams and contractors, issuing Job Packs, supporting project delivery, asset registration and finance management.

What You'll be Doing

  • Health and Safety (H&S) Prioritization:

  • Consider health and safety, job license, and skills as agreed with the line manager.

  • Conduct on-site risk assessments, considering hazards before starting work and during work progress.

  • Report near misses and incidents.

  • Challenge others to display ID passes on BT premises.

  • Comply with ISO Audit Requirements (including 14001 and 45001).

  • Planning Expertise:

  • Utilize expertise in planning, surveying, and clerk of works activities.

  • Occasionally supervise and lead small teams during operations.

  • Contractor Support:

  • Support and challenge contractors to ensure value for money.

  • Power/Electrical Knowledge:

  • Assess sites against Space, Power and Cooling requirements based on your electrical and mechanical engineering expertise.

  • Manage A56 (Inspection and Testing to BS7671) for designated locations, ensuring the integrity of electrical infrastructure.

  • Performance and Development:

  • Contribute to team measures, maintain compliance, and drive personal development.

  • Coach and support team members.

  • Standards of Work:

  • Follow documented procedures and practices.

  • Maintain tools, equipment, and PPE quality.

  • Foster a Continuous Improvement (CI) approach.

  • Project Ownership:

  • Take full ownership of allocated projects.

  • Plan for current and future work within sites.

  • Present and represent business data to internal/external customers.

  • ICT Literacy: Confident user of MS Office suite, especially MS Word, Excel, and Outlook (e-mail).

  • Stakeholder Management: Able to partner with and support internal and external customers, managing their needs and expectations.

The Experience you will need

Mandatory

  • Business expertise in delivering to a business prioritised workstack.

  • Working with stakeholders managing conflicts in delivering enablement solutions in a timely manner at optimum cost. Working with internal and external partners to deliver to quality and time requirements.

  • Experience in electrical / power engineering

  • C&G2382 - Level 3 Award in the requirements for Electrical Installations BS7671

  • Individuals will be required to hold a Full UK Driving Licence.

Preferred experience/qualifications:

  • C&G2391 Initial and Periodic Inspection and Testing of Electrical Circuits

  • C&G2365 - Level 2 OR 3 (Electrical Installation)
