Legrand has an exciting opportunity for aManufacturing Engineering Technicianto join theLighting Sector Kenall Teamin Kenosha, WI.The Manufacturing Engineering Technician will be responsible for ensuring the manufacturability of new product design and existing product re-designs. The MET will participate in the development and implementation of continuous improvement projects, root cause analysis, and other efficiency and cost reducing measures to positively affect the company's production flow, quality, and profit margin.

Responsible for daily support of metal production tracks, including but not limited to, real time problem solving, interpretation of quality standards, and continued operation of production.

What Will You Do?

Essential Job Functions:

  • Respond to requests for assistance throughout Fab tracks including taking direction from group leader & manufacturing engineers.

  • Identify opportunities and develop implementation plans for projects which improve safety, quality, and throughput of manufacturing floor processes.

  • Minimize downtime of production lines by creatively solving problems and making decisions that will not affect product quality.

  • Determine when to escalate response to next level of support, Manufacturing Engineer, Design Engineer, Quality, Fab Supervisor, and Maintenance.

  • Verify defective material when encountered and help correct to minimize downtime.

  • Coordinate production in process inspection with Quality dept.

  • Provide input to root cause investigations.

  • Continuous improvement: Kaizen, bottlenecks, setup reduction, efficiency, etc.

  • Review drawings for fabrication requirements and recommend suggestions for improvements.

  • Machining, welding, press break operation experience is a plus.

    Custom Job Functions:

  • Assist in coordination and assist ME with production setup.

  • Validate job setup to ensure product meets specification.

  • Troubleshot/root cause analysis.

  • Assist ME with fabrication of parts.

  • Coordinate with ME for upcoming job requirements.

  • Attend job kick-off meetings & CRF Kickoff Meetings.

  • Point person for CRF’s out on the floor – Driving urgency to plan for and complete custom jobs out on the floor – work closely with lead CRF ME.

    General Responsibilities:

  • Follow and promote safety rules, safe operating procedures, and practices.

  • Active participation in ongoing individual training development programs.

  • Set goals and objectives with Supervisor; look for ways to improve quality and productivity.

  • Report abnormalities in equipment, machines, programs, processes, etc.

  • Perform backup functions to ME. Engage in cross-training to support backup efforts as directed.

Qualifications

Required Skills

Critical Skills/Expertise:

  • Associate’s degree preferred.

  • Ability to read job documentation, blueprints, count, and perform basic math accurately, including fractions.

  • Working knowledge of lighting fixture operation, circuits, electrical components, reflector design, schematics, and related options, and accessories a plus.

  • Written and verbal communication skills as required to discuss training, general direction, and other position-related tasks.

  • Must be professional in appearance and attitude and possess the ability to work in a professional manner with vendors and employees at all levels.

  • Computer literate, including Microsoft operating system and software.

  • High level of initiative and dependability.

  • Must be flexible to perform overtime duties or adjust schedule when required, including weekends.

  • Must be flexible and willing to pitch in as needed.

  • Resourceful and highly organized with an attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to manage, prioritize, and balance multiple tasks.

  • Ability to work successfully within a team environment.

  • Must possess positive, "can-do" attitude.

    Equipment Used:

  • Personal computer in a Windows OS / Printer - data acquisition & analysis.

  • Use of scale, micrometer, squares, protractors, calculator, power hand tools, etc.

  • Hand tools (manual & power).

  • Metrology equipment (calipers, etc.).
