POSITION SUMMARY
The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing diagnostics and repairs related to the mechanical aspects of machinery and equipment. They should be able to disassemble, repair, and reassemble machines with minimal instructions, and carry out complex mechanical assignments regularly. In addition to this, the mechanic is responsible for supporting production by redesigning, modifying, repairing, and installing industrial machinery. They will also inspect equipment, diagnose malfunctions, and analyze equipment failures to determine the root cause, making necessary adjustments. The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic is expected to improve maintenance techniques and operations independently, while adhering to the company's principles of continuous improvement, customer-driven innovation, and a win-first culture. The role requires meeting financial and other performance metrics set by the company while maintaining confidentiality.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Troubleshoot mechanical machine failures through component disassembly and inspection
Use technical documentation to aid in troubleshooting
Determine root cause of failure and implement corrective action to prevent recurrence and reduce MTTR
Review previous failure modes to aid in root cause discovery
Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors for component cost and availability
Repair failures using alternative methods of repair or application
Follow up on repairs with equipment observation and monitoring
Manage all phases of repair projects from origination to completion
Develop, document, and perform preventive and predictive maintenance tasks to maximize MTBF
Identify proper lubrication techniques and intervals for equipment
Perform alignment checks and mechanical clearances to ensure proper operation
Research, develop, and document critical spare parts for equipment
Provide guidance to management and engineering on capital equipment investments
Provide guidance to other maintenance personnel
Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups
Perform basic mathematical operations
Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form
Work in conjunction with outside suppliers and contractors
Work well under pressure and remain flexible to changing schedules and demands
Perform additional duties as requested by management.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
High School diploma or general education degree
Directly related experience in industrial or manufacturing mechanic comparable role with 5+ years' experience.
Forklift operator’s license is a plus.
Aerial Lift certification is desirable.
Driver’s License is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Excellent organizational, communication, project management and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and exercise judgment
Advanced knowledge of industrial machinery operation, bearings, gears, drives, power transmission, metal fabrication, tool room machining, and heat treatment of components.
Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic equipment and systems.
Knowledge and use of test equipment such as die penetrant.
Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication and electrical drawings and schematics.
Proficient mechanical and trouble shooting skills.
Knowledge of TPM principles and practices.

The work environment is representative and typical of similar jobs in comparable organizations. While performing the duties of this job, the employee could be required to stand. The employee could frequently be required to walk; use hand to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee could be required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee could occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job could include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
